  • Patent number: 5773621
Abstract: A gas dispersion pipe into which gas is introduced through its top end portion and blown out from its bottom end portion into liquid for gas-liquid contact, and a method and a device for gas-liquid contact employing the gas dispersion pipe are disclosed. The gas dispersion pipe has its top end portion formed in a contraction pipe with its horizontal cross-sectional area decreasing downward and/or its bottom end portion formed in a nozzle structure with its horizontal cross-sectional area decreasing downward. Instead of making the gas dispersion pipe with its bottom end portion in the nozzle structure, a gas guide member with its horizontal cross-sectional area increasing downward may be disposed within the bottom end portion of the gas dispersion pipe.

  • Patent number: 4911901
Abstract: A process for treating a flue gas containing sulfur dioxide and fly ash is disclosed in which an aqueous absorbent liquid is sprayed into the glue gas stream, and the resulting gas is fed to a vertical, open-ended pipe to form a jet annular stream, so that portions of the SO.sub.2 and the fly ash contained in the flue gas are transferred to the liquid phase. The jet annular stream is then sparged into the aqueous absorbent held in a well-mixed vessel to form a jet bubbling layer in a shallow, upper region of the aqueous absorbent, so that a greater part of the SO.sub.2 and the fly ash are removed from the gas. Air is introduced into a deep lower region of said aqueous absorbent to provide streams of fine oxygen-containing gas bubbles throughout the whole vessel, so that the absorbed SO.sub.2 and other sulfites are oxidized to form coarse gypsum crystals while COD of the absorbent is reduced.

  • Patent number: 4765960
Abstract: Apparatus for installing pipes in multipipe type gas-liquid contact equipment comprises a bush which can be mounted on the inner peripheral surface of a pipe installation bore formed in a deck for pipe installation within the multipipe type gas-liquid contact equipment, a cylindrical head which is provided on the upper end of the pipe, the head being capable of penetrating in conjunction with the pipe through the bush, and a collar member which can be fitted to the outer peripheral surface of the cylindrical head. In this apparatus, the collar member is fitted to the cylindrical head, and the installation of pipes is performed by rotating the collar member.
