  • Patent number: 5316378
Abstract: A brake fluid pressure control apparatus is disclosed which is capable of providing a good brake feel at the initial stage of pressure reapplication. The brake fluid pressure control apparatus comprises a pressure receiving device 25 and a valve mechanism 19 for closing a fluid passage 10 from a master cylinder 7 to wheel cylinders 8. The wheel cylinder fluid pressure is held by closing the fluid passage when the vehicle is brought to a halt with the brake applied, so that the vehicle can be held stationary if the driver takes his food off the brake pedal. When the pressure is to be applied again from the master cylinder 7, the pressure applied during the initial period of this reapplication of the master cylinder pressure is received by the pressure receiving device.

  • Patent number: 5282675
Abstract: An anti-lock control arrangement for a vehicle which employs a control map for effectively preventing a wheel lock during braking. The control map is defined in terms of acceleration-deceleration values of a vehicle speed, which is to be controlled, and a speed difference between a target speed and a vehicle speed. The control map is read during anti-lock operation to effectuate control of the brake hydraulic pressure.

  • Patent number: 5219210
Abstract: To dispense with a proportioning valve for the rear wheel brake fluid pressure line system of a brake anti-locking controller for a vehicle to reduce the cost of the controller. A brake fluid pressure controller comprises a controller for opening and closing the hold valves of a rear wheel brake fluid pressure line system at the time of brake fluid pressure increase after the start of braking of the vehicle but before the start of the brake anti-locking control thereof in order to keep the rate of the break fluid pressure increase in the rear wheel brake fluid pressure system lower than that of the brake fluid pressure increase in the front wheel brake fluid pressure line system.

  • Patent number: 5067881
Abstract: In a plunger-operated hydraulic pump, a cylinder has an ejection port extending from its upper end portion with an ejection valve provided at the ejection port. A piston and a plunger fitted in the cylinder are urged towards an eccentric cam by a first return spring and a second return spring which is stronger than the first return spring, respectively. The cylinder has a suction port in its lower end portion in such a manner that it is not closed by the plunger, so that the suction valve is opened by the downward stroke of the plunger, and during suction, the inflow resistance of the suction valve is minimized. Further, in the hydraulic pump, a plurality of cylinders are arranged at equal angular intervals so that the vibrations due to the reciprocations of the plungers are canceled by one another, thereby greatly suppressing the vibration of the cylinder block.

  • Patent number: 5020623
Abstract: A traction control system includes a control rod connected to a throttle lever and being slidable with respect to a housing to which an accelerator pedal is connected. The control rod is movable in response to a driving wheel acceleration slip signal so as to return the throttle lever. A control device controls the movement of the control rod. A set spring acts between the control rod and the housing. The set spring has such a spring force that the set spring is not compressed by the pressing-down of the accelerator pedal in the absence of the driving wheel acceleration slip signal, so that the control rod can be moved together with the housing. The spring force of the set spring is such that during the above movement of the control rod, the set spring is compressed when the accelerator pedal is strongly pressed down.

  • Patent number: 4967866
Abstract: In a traction control system for motor vehicles, the design is made such that during traction control operation, detection is made as to whether both the left-hand and the right-hand driving wheel speed have become equal to or higher than a predetermined threshold value, and detection is also made as to whether one of the driving wheel speeds which is increasing and the other one of the driving wheel speeds which is decreasing, have crossed each other; when the results of such detections are both "YES", this is regarded as an indication that a hunting phenomenon is likely to occur, and in response thereto, buildup and reduction of the brake hydraulic pressure is restricted; during the restriction, detection is made as to whether both of the driving wheel speeds have become equal to or lower than the predetermined threshold value, the above-mentioned restriction is removed.

  • Patent number: 4962824
Abstract: In a traction control system for motor vehicles, a plurality of threshold values which are higher than the vehicle speed (equal to the non-driving wheel speed) are set up; the wheel speed as increasing or decreasing is compared with the above-mentioned plurality of threshold values to effect buildup or reduction of the brake fluid pressure; and holding of the brake fluid pressure is effected on the basis of a variation in the acceleration/deceleration of the driving wheel; in the case where the holding control mode in which the brake fluid pressure is held, persists for a predetermined time period or longer when the driving wheel speed is higher than a specific one of the above-mentioned plurality of threshold values, the holding control mode is switched to buildup control mode.

  • Patent number: 4922961
Abstract: An electromagnetic valve used in a hydraulic-pressure brake device, etc. is disclosed. The electromagnetic valve is so designed that the movement of its plungers is not hindered by the working liquid. Cylindrical members are arranged between the casing of the electromagnetic valve and its plungers, defining a bypass passage between the respective outer peripheral surfaces of the cylindrical members and the inner peripheral surface of the casing. With this structure, most of the liquid flowing with the opening/closing movement of valve members operatively connected to the plungers is allowed to flow through the bypass passage, thus making it possible to provide an electromagnetic valve having a high control responsiveness, without enlarging the size of the plungers.

  • Patent number: 4844555
Abstract: An anti-lock control device in a 2-channel diagonal brake composed of two individual brake lines, one controlling the front left and the rear right wheel, and the other the front right and the rear left wheel. When pressure reduction occurs in one brake line during anti-lock control, a cut valve closes the brake fluid passage to the rear wheel in the other brake line so as to retain the fluid pressure of the rear wheel at a constant value.
