    Abstract: Modulation frequency setting device sets the modulation frequency on the basis of the vehicle speed data from a vehicle speed detector and the detected range data, causing a low frequency oscillator to generate a low frequency signal of the set frequency. A transmitter transmits an electromagnetic wave (e.g., infrared light) which have been modulated with the low frequency signal. A phase comparator detects the phase difference between the low frequency signal and a detector output, and a range operating device produces range data. Relative speed operating unit finds the relative speed based on the range data. In case of a high vehicle speed, the modulation frequency is set low to extend the detection range. If an object in a short distance is detected, the modulation frequency is set high to limit the detection range to a short range, thereby enhancing the range resolution.

    Abstract: There is provided a connector device for a hydraulic circuit, in which female and male connector housings can be positively fitted together completely, and female and male terminals can be positively connected electrically. Terminals are passed at their central portions through respective terminal passage holes in a housing casing, and a liquid-state sealer is poured into an insertion hole in which rear portions of the terminals are disposed, and is cured to close the insertion hole. A leak portion collecting portion for collecting an outflow portion of the sealer leaked from each of the terminal passage holes through a surface of the associated terminal when pouring the sealer is provided at an end of the terminal passage hole.

    Abstract: A catalyst for producing phenol consisting essentially of a nickel compound supported on a metal oxide carrier, or a catalyst for producing phenol consisting essentially of iron oxide and nickel oxide, and processes for producing phenol using either of the above catalyst. The catalysts of the invention exercise a high conversion of benzoic acid and a high selectivity to phenol, and phenol can be produced in a high yield, particularly in a high space time yield through the processes of the invention using the above catalysts. The above conversion, selectivity and space time yield can be improved by calcining the catalyst at 600.degree. to 900.degree. C.

    Abstract: A front body construction of a motor vehicle includes a lower dash panel for separating an engine compartment and a cabin and a cowl portion provided on the lower dash panel such that a lower end of a windshield is supported at an upper portion of the cowl portion. The cowl portion includes an upper dash panel attached to an upper end portion of the lower dash panel so as to form a bottom wall of the cowl portion and a front cowl panel attached to an upper face of the upper dash panel so as to form a front wall of the cowl portion. The front cowl panel has, in a lateral direction of a vehicle body, opposite sides and a central portion such that space for an auxiliary unit is provided not only forwards of the front cowl panel in a longitudinal direction of the vehicle body, but also on at least one of the opposite sides of the front cowl panel.

Such component state is released by a releasing device which detects a predetermined state of collision upon the occurrence of a collision. This arrangement restricts the extent of rearward movement of a steering wheel and adjusts properly the amount of upward movement of the steering handle, thereby contributing to the improvement of safety.

The supply head can be fed through a bolt pressure feeding tube. The transferring head has a clamping cylinder therein for clamping the bolt in the receiving opening.
