  • Publication number: 20080104490
Abstract: According to one embodiment, a digital data decoding apparatus calculates branch metrics of all paths in an input data series from the path at a state of a current time to the path at a state of a next time, and obtains path metrics of all the paths up to the path at the state of the next time by adding the calculated branch metric to the path metric of the path corresponding to the branch metric. Further, the digital data decoding apparatus selects a maximum-likelihood path from among the paths based on the obtained path metrics and, when no input is performed, selects the maximum-likelihood path by utilizing the path metric of the selected maximum-likelihood path as it is without adding the branch metric thereto.

  • Patent number: 5161036
Abstract: A binary digitizing system which is effective when it is desired to reproduce a picture having a half-tone level with use of, for example, a dot printer or the like. Binary threshold data for comparison with a current picture signal is randomly changed slightly within a predetermined range to such an extent that users cannot recognize change in the level of the binary threshold data, thus preventing the continuation of such regular binary pattern. Further, the binary threshold data for comparison with a current input picture signal is changed according to a desired density to obtain a binary picture signal corresponding to the desired density.

  • Patent number: 5090029
Abstract: A method and apparatus for transmission of data among computers or peripherals along a loop transmission line includes a master system which provides signals along the transmission line for establishing a series of data frames of equivalent length. Each data frame is assigned a frame number, and is allotted a preselected amount of available space for placement of data. Subsequent computers or peripherals are preprogramed with a series of frame numbers which identify those data frames into which they may write data, or from which data is to be read. The allotment of preselected frame numbers for placement and reception of data by the respective devices provides for equivalent sharing of the available data transmission capability of the loop transmission system.

  • Patent number: 4873536
Abstract: The present invention provides improved method and apparatus for preventing unevenness in thermal printers. Generally unevenness in thermal printers is a result of temperature variations between the heat generating elements thereof. The present invention seeks to prevent unevenness in printing by compensating the driving current of each heat generating element in response to its temperature. The temperature of the heat generating elements is determined by driving each element to a predetermined temperature while heating and determining the time interval which elapses between heatings. Further, thermal characteristics of the printing head can be used to compensate the driving current. Lastly, the driving current can be compensated with data which represents the time interval between printing successive lines of data.
