Abstract: A press-contacting connector includes a connector housing, a wire holder and an assisting plate. The connector housing has a plurality of press-contacting terminals and a holder fitting portion in which a plurality of press-contacting blades of the press-contacting terminals are provided. The wire holder is fitted into the holder fitting portion of the connector housing, and holding a plurality of wires. The assisting plate is attached to the wire holder so as to press-hold press-contacting portions of the wires to the wire holder. The assisting plate has a plurality of guide portions which guides the press-contacting blades to the press-contacting portions of the wires respectively. When the wire holder is fitted into the connector housing, the press-contacting blades press-contact the press-contacting portions of the wires respectively.

When the fixing member fixes the inner housing and the outer housing to each other, the convex portion abuts against the other of the outer surface of the inner housing and the inner surface of the outer housing so that a repulsive force is generated between the inner housing and the outer housing.

The female terminal includes a bent substrate having an L-shaped cross-section, a wire compressively contacting portion formed on the outer surface of one side portion of the substrate, and a terminal engaging portion formed on the outer surface of the other side portion of the substrate for receiving therein a tab terminal so as to be substantially perpendicular to the base plate. The terminal engaging portion is received in the recessed portion while ensuring predetermined clearances between the outer surface of the engaging portion and the side walls of the recessed portion. The base plate is covered by the cover while receiving the electric wire in a guide groove formed in the base plate.

The distributing board includes a baseplate with recesses and a guide groove, a cover for covering the baseplate, female terminal metal fittings accommodated in the recesses and an electrical wire accommodated in the guide groove to connect the female terminal metal fittings with each other electrically. Each female terminal metal fitting includes a terminal fitting part for fitting the tab terminal and a pressure welding part. Under condition that the electrical wire is accommodated in the guide groove, the baseplate is covered with the cover. Since the female terminal metal fittings can be electrically connected with each other by welding the electrical wires on the individual female terminal metal fittings with pressure, it is possible to cope with changes in circuit easily.

Abstract: A locking mechanism for a male/female connector system comprises a flexible locking arm formed on a connector housing. The locking arm has formed at its free end a locking projection which lockingly engages a shoulder on a mating connector housing. The locking arm and locking projection lie below the fulcrum of the locking arm with respect to the connector housing. When forces tending to separate the mated connector housings are applied thereto, a moment is created acting on the locking arm in a direction to strengthen the engagement between the locking projection and the shoulder.

The locking pin multiple is made as a long moulding having a great many of the locking pins and the mouldings is cut to make an appropriate length of a locking pin multiple corresponding to the kind of connector housing.
