  • Patent number: 4309338
Abstract: This invention provides a process for preparing an aqueous dispersion of a rosin-base material by a so-called inversion method, the process being characterized in that the dispersant is at least one member selected from the group consisting of:(a) salt of sulfonic acid represented by the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 is a hydrocarbon residue having 4 to 18 carbon atoms, m is an integer of 1 or 2, n is an integer of 4 to 25, X is hydrogen or hydroxyl, and M is a monovalent cation, and(b) salt of sulfuric acid half ester represented by the formula ##STR2## wherein R.sup.2 is hydrogen or lower alkyl, A is straight-chain or branched-chain alkylene having 2 to 3 carbon atoms, p is an integer of 4 to 25, and Q is a monovalent cation. The aqueous dispersion obtained by the process of the invention have excellent sizing effects, very high storage, mechanical and dilution stabilities, and greatly reduced foaming properties.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 29, 1980
Date of Patent: January 5, 1982
Assignee: Arakawa Kagaku Kogyo Kabushiki Kaisha
    Inventors: Toshiharu Okumichi, Kimio Kawatani
  • Patent number: 4296012
Abstract: This invention provides a sizing composition for cellulosic fiber sheets comprising water and finely divided solid particles dispersed in the water, said particles being a uniform mixture of about 40 to about 96% by weight of a ketene dimer and about 4 to about 60% by weight of a noncrystalline hydrocarbon resin; and a process for preparing the sizing composition. The sizing composition of this invention is excellent both in sizing effects and in stabilities.

  • Patent number: 4071375
Abstract: A process for preparing a stable aqueous dispersion of rosin-base material by dissolving in a water-immiscible organic solvent a rosin-base material composed of 0 to 95 wt. % of rosin and 100 to 5 wt. % of an adduct of rosin and .alpha.,.beta.-unsaturated carboxylic acid or anhydride thereof, dispersing the organic solvent solution in water in the presence of a dispersant and removing the organic solvent from the resulting emulsion, the process being characterized in that the dispersant in an alkali metal salt of a half alkyl sulfate.
