  • Patent number: 11492011
Abstract: An autonomous driving control device includes: a plurality of control devices that each have a first storage unit and a processing unit; a load control unit; a second storage unit; and a failure detection unit. The programs include autonomous driving programs and other programs. When a failure is detected, the load control unit unloads at least some of the other programs from the first storage unit of a normal control device, and loads the autonomous driving program corresponding to that loaded in the first storage unit of a failed control device from the second storage unit into the first storage unit of the normal control device.

  • Patent number: 11016484
Abstract: A vehicle control apparatus for performing automatic driving control of a vehicle carrying the apparatus based on a travel path to a destination, which path is set using map information, and detection information about surroundings of the vehicle detected by sensors mounted in the vehicle. In the vehicle control apparatus, a mismatch determiner is configured to, during automatic driving control, determine whether or not there is a match between the map information and the detection information acquired from the sensors. A control aspect changer is configured to, if it is determined by the mismatch determiner that there is a mismatch between the map information and the detection information, change a control aspect of automatic driving control in response to a situation of mismatch.

  • Patent number: 7551986
Abstract: According to a request from a gateway device in a subject vehicle, a program distribution device designates a program that conducts an access to an ECU in the subject vehicle and associated with vehicular information of the subject vehicle on a table where vehicular information and programs are previously associated. The designated program is distributed to the gateway device along with an access right identifier defining an access right to the given ECU, and an electronic signature. When the gateway device determines that the received electronic signature is valid, the gateway device sets, to the received program, an access right to the ECU based on the distributed access right identifier.

  • Patent number: 6597278
Abstract: In a communication system between mobile communication devices and an immobile communication device, a mobile device receives a FCMC signal from the immobile device upon entering a communication service area of the immobile device. The mobile device checks for a coincidence of its own link identification code with other link identification codes included in the FCMC signal and already being used for communication with other mobile devices in the same communication service area. If the coincidence is present, the mobile device changes the own link identification code so that the communication with the immobile device may be executed by using the changed link identification code. In the event that a plurality of mobile devices use the same link identification codes, the immobile device requests the mobile devices to change the same link identification code to different-ones among the mobile devices.

  • Patent number: 6275552
Abstract: A road side communication equipment is provided crossing over lanes of an expressway, so that a communication processing for toll collection is executed between the road side equipment and an on-board equipment passing a communication area. The road side equipment sends signals using a 32-bit synchronizing signal for the start slot of each frame and a 16-bit synchronizing signal for subsequent slots of the frame. The on-board equipment receives this to perform signal receiving processing. The received communication signals are then digital-demodulated and entered to a shift register, so that the bit pattern is compared in two comparators to detect the synchronizing signal. According to the output from AND circuits, the synchronizing signal is distinguished from the synchronizing signal to determine the received data and receive subsequent data.

  • Patent number: 6081718
Abstract: To perform communication speedily and reliably at an increased frequency of communication occurrence when providing multiple antenna units which are set to the same frequency, each of antenna units having a gantry in a tollgate is set such that adjacent antenna units having the same frequency alternately perform communications. Each communication period is set to have a down link period in which an interrogation signal is transmitted and an up link period in which an unmodulated carrier wave is transmitted while a response signal is received. Upon receiving a signal, an on-vehicle device generates a response signal by using a control circuit and transmits the signal by reflection, and fixes a communication party for further communications. The communication cycles of adjacent antenna units are shifted from each other, thereby avoiding interference.

  • Patent number: 6042008
Abstract: To ensure the toll collection of a vehicle carrying an in-vehicle unit without stopping the vehicle at an entrance toll gate or an exit toll gate, an entrance toll gate lane is equipped sequentially from the entrance with a vehicle class discriminator, an entrance vehicle number reader, a first antenna, a vehicle detector, a ticket issuer, a display unit, a vehicle detector, a second antenna and a start detector. The first antenna communicates with an in-vehicle unit of a coming vehicle to write the entrance toll gate data. The display unit is caused, when the communication succeeds, to permit the passage of the vehicle therethrough. When the communication fails, the display unit is caused to stop the vehicle, and the ticket issuer issues the ticket. The second antenna writes the vehicle class data and the registered number data, as detected by the vehicle class discriminator and the vehicle number reader, in an in-vehicle unit. Thus, the existing facilities can be used as they are.

  • Patent number: 5926546
Abstract: An automatic collection system for automatically collecting a toll charge from an IC card is provided with transceivers in gantries installed along a vehicle road. This collection system uses the transceivers to perform communication with a vehicle-mounted device based on the use of encrypted data. The vehicle-mounted device performs the encryption and decryption of the communication data before its entry into the communication area of the gantries and after its passage therethrough. Also, writing of the data into the IC card, etc. are also performed using encrypted data. However, an algorithm which differs from that used in encrypting the data stored in the IC card and which enables the execution of the high speed processing is used for encrypting the communication data.

  • Patent number: 5774795
Abstract: A communication area for an antenna disposed on a toll collection gate and a communication area for a responder unit (IU) mounted on an automobile are arranged to coincide with each other. Communication failure in overlapping areas where a plurality of communication areas are formed in a toll collection area is prevented. When an IU receives a pilot signal-wave, a carrier-radio-wave-signal is subsequently transmitted thereto. The IU modulates the carrier-radio-wave-signal with a responding data-signal and transmits the modulated-carrier-radio-wave as a responding signal-wave. In this system, the output power of the responding signal-wave is attenuated during the round trip of the carrier-radio-wave. Therefore, the output power thereof is decreased from an original level when the pilot signal-wave is transmitted.

  • Patent number: 5751227
Abstract: A communication system for vehicles, which obtains exact communication processing with responders mounted on vehicles running on a road having a plurality of traffic lanes, is disclosed. An expressway has three traffic lanes. A gantry is disposed in a specified position on the expressway. On the gantry are disposed antenna units to counter the traffic lanes respectively. The antenna units are provided with communication areas by means of a pair of antenna elements respectively. The antenna element is composed of a microstrip array antenna disposed with eight pieces of patches laid out in two rows with four pieces in each row. The antenna units controls communication processing to communicate with vehicles adjoining each other. When response signals are sent from a vehicle mounted responder, the vehicle mounted responder is fixed and communication processing for toll collection is performed.

  • Patent number: 5525991
Abstract: The primary object of the invention is to realize a mobile object identification system of simple construction and low cost, in which the responding unit attached to a mobile object writes data only once when it receives write signals repeatedly in communication with antenna units. When a tag unit (responding unit) receives a write signal from a writing antenna unit, it writes data to the data memory when a completion flag is cleared. When the data is first written, a control circuit sets the completion flag. Then, if the tag unit receives additional write signals in the communication area of the same writing antenna unit, the control circuit invalidates the data write command on the ground that the completion flag is set, thereby preventing duplicate data writing.
