  • Patent number: 5397424
Abstract: An apparatus has first and second loading means, and first and second rolls each obtained by winding a strip-like material are loaded on the first and second loading means. A detection means detects an end indication tape adhered to a trailing end portion of the strip-like material of the roll. A cutting/unrolling means automatically unrolls the strip-like material from the roll, and cuts the leading and trailing end portions of the strip-like material to form the leading and trailing ends. The unrolled strip-like material is guided along a predetermined path by a guide means. A joining station is arranged midway along the guide path. One strip-like material is fed through the joining station by a feeding means, and the leading end portion of the other strip-like material is stopped and stands by at the joining station.

  • Patent number: 4984750
Abstract: A method an apparatus for replacing reels of web-like material having a paper-end gripping arm having an attraction surface and a keep pawl. A peeling member peels of a bonded end portion of the material and the material is delivered along a transport path where it is held and the bonded end portion is cut off. The cut end portion is then removed from the transport path. Two reels are supported on reel holding portions and are alternately fed to the transport path. The end portion is bonded to the reel by boring a hole in the end portion, attaching tape to the outer surface in the area of the hole and pressing the tape inwardly so that it extends through the hole and is bonded to the outer surface of the material beneath the hole.

  • Patent number: 4792033
Abstract: Articles are supplied to a conveyor by feeding primary articles from a primary supply, seriatim, to a conveyor. The conveyor is driven at a first speed consistent with the supply of primary articles so that primary articles are uniformly spaced on said conveyor. The presence of a predetermined number of supplemental articles in a supplemental supply is detected, and used to increase the speed of the conveyor to produce space on the conveyor sufficient to receive the predetermined number of supplemental articles. The predetermined number of supplemental articles are fed, seriatim, to the conveyor such that the supplemental articles are uniformly spaced on the conveyor with the same spacing that the primary articles on the conveyor.

  • Patent number: 4705225
Abstract: An automatic wrapping material change-over apparatus having a plurality of bobbins each with a wrapping material wound thereon and functioning to change-over from one bobbin from which the wrapping material is being drawn out, to another bobbin and cut simultaneously the wrapping material from the one bobbin and that from the another bobbin upon detection of a mark register between both wrapping materials, in which the thus-cut end of the wrapping material from the another bobbin follows the thus-cut end of the wrapping material from the one bobbin.

  • Patent number: 4697408
Abstract: An apparatus for controlling the amount of delivery in a wrapping material feed system, including a rotation drive means for rotating a bobbin with a wrapping material wound thereon; a winding diameter detecting means for detecting a winding diameter of the wrapping material; an adjusting means for changing torque and brake forces of the bobbin to adjust the amount of delivery of the wrapping material, and a control means for controlling the adjusting means. The control means has a memory section which stores optimum torque and brake forces for winding diameters of the wrapping material as well as increment and decrement patterns of torque and brake forces for various operation modes of the wrapping material feed system, and upon receipt of a signal from the winding diameter detecting means the control means provides a signal to the adjusting means in accordance with the contents of the memory section.
