    Abstract: A cleaning apparatus for a rotary printing press includes a cleaning blade, a cleaning cloth, and a cleaning unit and air cylinders, or an air cylinder, a guide shift mechanism, and a cleaning cloth travel mechanism. The cleaning blade has a distal end portion which abuts against the circumferential surface of an oscillating roller during a cleaning operation to scrape a waste ink, and a rear surface continuous to the distal end portion to guide the scraped waste ink downward. The cleaning cloth travels during the cleaning operation done by the cleaning blade to collect the waste ink scraped by the cleaning blade. The cleaning unit and air cylinders, or the air cylinder, the guide shift mechanism, and the cleaning cloth travel mechanism bring the cleaning cloth into contact with the rear surface of the cleaning blade, when the distal end portion of the cleaning blade is in contact with the circumferential surface of the oscillating roller, to collect the waste ink on the cleaning blade.

    Abstract: A cylinder cleaning apparatus for a printing press includes a cleaning unit, an actuator, another actuator, and a control unit. The cleaning unit is supported by a printing press frame to be movable between a cleaning position where a cleaning web is in contact with a circumferential surface of a cylinder and a retreat position where the cleaning web is separate from the circumferential surface of the cylinder. The cleaning unit has a cleaning cloth supply roll for supplying the cleaning web to the circumferential surface of the cylinder and a cleaning cloth take-up roll for taking up the cleaning web supplied from the cleaning cloth supply roll. The actuator is fixed to the printing press frame to pivot the take-up roll for a predetermined amount, thereby taking up the cleaning web. Another actuator moves the cleaning unit to one of the cleaning position and the retreat position in accordance with whether the cylinder is in a first or second cleaning mode.

The cleaning web take-up roll takes up a cleaning web supplied from a cleaning web supply roll to clean a circumferential surface of a cylinder. The constant amount feed mechanism takes up a constant amount of the cleaning web on the take-up roll regardless of an amount of the cleaning web taken up by the take-up roll. The unit throw-on/throw-off actuator and the actuator drive to rotate the take-up roll in taking up the cleaning web. The plate and bolts adjust a pivot amount of the take-up roll on which the constant amount of the cleaning web is taken up by the constant amount feed mechanism.

    Abstract: A printing cylinder/roller cleaning apparatus for a printing press includes a cleaning cloth, a take-up shaft, a supply shaft, a ratchet wheel, a lock member, a swing lever, a one-way clutch, and an air cylinder. The cleaning cloth is pressed against a circumferential surface of a rotating printing cylinder/roller. The take-up shaft takes up the cleaning cloth. The supply shaft supplies the cleaning cloth. The ratchet wheel is coaxially mounted on the supply shaft. The lock lever is engaged with the ratchet wheel when the cleaning cloth is not taken up. The swing lever is coaxially mounted on the take-up shaft and rotated to actuate the lock lever, thereby releasing engagement between the ratchet wheel and the lock lever. The one-way clutch connects the take-up shaft with the swing lever only in a direction to take up the cleaning cloth. The air cylinder pivots the swing lever in response to a cleaning operation of the printing cylinder/roller.
