  • Patent number: 11047350
Abstract: A bottom surface of a surge tank has such a shape that, in a vehicle-mounted state, the bottom surface is positioned below a lower surface at an upstream end of each of a plurality of independent passages and comes closer to the lower surface at the upstream end of each of the plurality of independent passages in a vertical direction farther away from a connected portion between the surge tank and a third passage in a cylinder array direction.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 20, 2018
Date of Patent: June 29, 2021
    Assignee: Mazda Motor Corporation
Inventors: Toshihiko Hirata, Hidesaku Ebesu, Ryotaro Nishida
  • Patent number: 10920657
Abstract: An air intake passage (30) has a third passage (37) that connects an intercooler (36) and a bottom portion of a surge tank (38) such that the intercooler (36) is positioned below the surge tank (38). A pair of wall portions (71, 72) configured to catch moisture is formed in a section from an upstream end portion of the third passage (37) to a connected portion between said third passage (37) and the surge tank (38).

  • Patent number: 10844809
Abstract: An engine includes fuel system components provided on a cylinder head, a purge control valve that controls an amount of evaporated fuel purged to a portion of an intake passage on a downstream side of a throttle valve, and intake pipes that form the portion of the intake passage on the downstream side of the throttle valve and extend in a cylinder array direction, in which the purge control valve is disposed in front of the intake pipes and the fuel system components are disposed on an opposite side of the purge control valve across the intake pipes in vehicle front view or vehicle side view.

  • Patent number: 10788001
Abstract: The present disclosure aims to stabilize, in an engine with a supercharger, a detection result of an intake air temperature sensor interposed between the supercharger and an intercooler. A gas outlet of a supercharger and a gas inlet of an intercooler are connected together via a second passage. The second passage includes, in its middle position, a narrow region with a smaller cross-sectional area than the part of the second passage extending from an upstream end of the second passage to the middle position. The narrow region is provided with the intake air temperature sensor configured to detect the gas temperature in the narrow region.

  • Publication number: 20200049110
Abstract: Intake ports include a second port configured such that a flow rate of flowing gas is adjusted via a swirl control valve. When a surge tank is viewed in a cylinder axis direction, first and second branched passages are connected with a space being interposed therebetween in a cylinder array direction, and are connected to the surge tank on extension lines, each of which extends from an upstream end portion of an independent passage connected to the second port to an opposite side of each cylinder.
