Patent number: 6525676Abstract: Texts including required message are entered with a small number of keys such as those of a cellular telephone. In this case, a conversion table is unnecessary and the number of key operations is reduced. The number of input characters or input character strings composed by sequentially selecting one from a plurality of alphabets distributed to sequentially entered keys is relevant to the number of operation keys (N) raised to the number of distributed character (M) power (=NM) including meaningless characters or character strings and, with respect to these, character conversion is executed by referring to a dictionary means, through the operation of the conversion/next candidate key. The dictionary means stores numeric strings and words of meaningful characters or character strings among the said characters and character strings.Type: GrantFiled: July 17, 1998Date of Patent: February 25, 2003Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha ToshibaInventors: Kazuhiro Kisaichi, Nobuhiro Inoue, Toshihiko Nannichi, Jitsu Iwaki, Toshiro Nose, Katsunari Sasaki, John Riley

The number of input characters or input character strings composed by sequentially selecting one from a plurality of alphabets distributed to sequentially entered keys is relevant to the number of operation keys (N) raised to the number of distributed character (M) power (−NM) including meaningless characters or character strings and, with respect to these, character conversion is executed by referring to a dictionary means, through the operation of the conversion/next candidate key.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 17, 1998Publication date: November 15, 2001Applicant: KABUSHIKI KAISHA TOSHIBAInventors: KAZUHIRO KISAICHI, NOBUHIRO INOUE, TOSHIHIKO NANNICHI, JITSU IWAKI, TOSHIRO NOSE, KATSUNARI SASAKI, JOHN RILEY

Patent number: 6061480Abstract: The present invention concerns a coordinate input device for entering coordinate values by superposing on a display device (LCD or CRT). The device is comprised of a coordinate input section wherein a first conductive sheet for x-coordinate detection provided with electrodes on a pair of end edges and a second conductive sheet for y-coordinate detection provided with electrodes on a pair of end edges are superposed through a spacer so that respective electrodes intersect orthogonally. In a low power consumption mode of operation; a predetermined voltage is applied between one of the electrodes of the first conductive sheet and one of electrodes of the second conductive sheet for detecting a variation of the voltage. When the voltage varies the device switches, a predetermined voltage is applied between one electrode x1 of the first conductive sheet and one electrode y2 of the second conductive sheet.Type: GrantFiled: March 15, 1996Date of Patent: May 9, 2000Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha ToshibaInventors: Kazuhiro Kisaichi, Jitsu Iwaki, Toshiro Nose, Nobuhiro Inoue, Toshihiko Nannichi

Patent number: 5280365Abstract: An image processor in which input image data is sampled at a sampling circuit at a constant rate corresponding to P times the rate of the input image data and then subjected at a decimating circuit 14 to a decimating/reducing operation with a magnification of 1/Q to obtain image data having a magnification of P/Q in a horizontal scanning direction. An original-document reading motor is controlled under a scanner controller so that a relative moving speed between an image and a CCD is set to be lower than an ordinary moving rate. Under this condition, the image is repetitively read a plurality of times with respect to an identical line and then subjected at a line decimating circuit to a decimating/reducing operation on every line basis to obtain a resultant image having a desired magnification in a vertical scanning direction.Type: GrantFiled: July 1, 1992Date of Patent: January 18, 1994Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha ToshibaInventors: Toshihiko Nannichi, Masayoshi Aihara

Patent number: 5278581Abstract: A printer has a shift register, an emission-time setting section, a laser diode, and a drive section. The register supplies the emission-time setting section with bits representing consecutive pixels including at least one black pixel. The emission-time setting section determines the period of time during which the drive section is to drive the laser diode, from the pixel patterns represented by the bits supplied from the register, and outputs an emission-time signal which represents said period of time. In response to the emission-time signal, the drive section drives the laser diode for the period of time, whereby a black pixel of a desired size is formed on a printing medium.Type: GrantFiled: August 27, 1991Date of Patent: January 11, 1994Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha ToshibaInventors: Hirotaka Fukuyama, Tetsuya Nakamura, Haruki Kinoshita, Masayoshi Aihara, Katsumi Murano, Masanori Terasaki, Toshihiko Nannichi

Patent number: 5146352Abstract: A reader/recorder in a facsimile machine which is so arranged that, when it is desired to establish a communication with any of facsimile machines belonging to group 3 (G3) or group 4(G4) of the CCITT recommendation, a picture size compatibility can be maintained only by carrying out a reduction processing without an enlargement processing over picture signals.Type: GrantFiled: February 5, 1992Date of Patent: September 8, 1992Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha ToshibaInventor: Toshihiko Nannichi

Patent number: 5016118Abstract: An image determining apparatus for determining a dot matrix image or a character/line picture on the basis of a halftone image signal obtained by scanning an original image including a dot matrix image or a character/line picture. In order to perform such image determination, first, a pixel block corresponding to a two-dimensional region of a predetermined area is extracted from the half-tone image signal, the average pixel density of the extracted pixel block is calculated, and the respective pixels of the pixel block are binarized using the calculated average pixel density as a density threshold. The binarized pixel block is accessed sequentially in the main scan and subscan directions to check the length and frequency of occurrance of runs of a particular color pixel. If the length and frequency of occurrence of these runs are in a predetermined relationship, it is determined that the pixel block concerned is a dot matrix image or a character/line picture.Type: GrantFiled: September 19, 1989Date of Patent: May 14, 1991Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha ToshibaInventor: Toshihiko Nannichi
