  • Patent number: 6173562
Abstract: To improve the thermal efficiency when an exhaust heat recovery type combined cycle plant having a gas turbine and a steam turbine in combination is operated at a partial load, the gas turbine exhaust is recirculated and returned to the compressor, and the combustion temperature is prevented from being lowered at the partial load. Preferably, the temperature is maintained constant. In this way, the thermal efficiency during operation at partial load can be improved.

  • Patent number: 5895538
Abstract: A truss type extruded aluminum section is formed of a pair of planar plates and ribs, wherein hollow portions are formed within said section by the ribs and the planar plates. Vibration-damping resin is provided on the inner surfaces of hollow portions, and particularly on the inner surface of the planar plate and on a single surface of the inclined rib. With this arrangement, the vibration energy bending the planar plate and the rib is converted into a heat energy. In the case of manufacturing such truss type extruded aluminum vibration-damping section, for making easy the insertion of the vibration-damping resin in the hollow portion, the vibration-damping resin is stuck on a plastic film to form a long planar body. The plastic film serves as a cover or an adhesive. Moreover, in the case of directly inserting the vibration-damping resin sheet, the vibration-damping resin sheet is subjected to embossing on the adhesive-bonding side for allowing air to escape.

  • Patent number: 5676713
Abstract: In fuel gasification, particles of, for example, coal and an oxidant are supplied to a reactor, where the coal particles are gasified. The gas thus produced may contain molten slag entrained therein and such slag could subsequently solidify and affect other components of the coal gasification apparatus. Therefore a molten slag cooling heat exchanger is positioned directly above the reactor and this cools the gas so as to cause any molten slag therein to solidify. Hence, such molten slag does not reach an evaporator above the molten slag cooling heat exchanger, so that the efficiency of the evaporator will be maintained. However, solidified molten slag may build up on heat exchange tubes of the molten slag cooling heat exchanger. Therefore, the rate of coolant supplied to the molten slag cooling heat exchanger is varied, to cause expansion and contraction which causes solidified slag to be dislodged. Hence the efficiency of the molten slag cooling heat exchanger does not deteriorate.

  • Patent number: 5471832
Abstract: A combined cycle power plant has a plurality of gas turbine units each having a gas turbine and a heat recovery boiler for generating steam from heat from exhaust gas from the gas turbine. The gas turbine of a first one of the gas turbine units is a steam-cooled gas turbine. Steam turbines are driven by steam from the heat recovery boilers. For start-up of the first gas turbine unit, cooling steam generated in a heat recovery boiler different from not being the heat recovery boiler of the first gas turbine unit is fed to the steam-cooled gas turbine to effect cooling thereof during at least part of the start-up operation of the first gas turbine unit.

  • Patent number: 4030041
Abstract: An analog isolator includes a circuit wherein a power transformer has a primary winding for connection to an A.C. source, a first and second power take-off secondary windings and a first and second signal secondary windings. The A.C. signal of the first signal secondary winding is compared with an input signal to provide cross-over pulses. Those pulses are applied to control an isolator device such as a photocoupler. The output signal from the photocoupler is applied as gate control signals to control the selective gating of the signals from the second signal secondary winding. The selectively gated signals are applied either to a sample-and-hold arrangement or to an integrating smoothing circuit to provide effectively a reconstruction of the input signal but conductively isolated from the input circuit.
