  • Patent number: 6266691
Abstract: An electronic conference support system having a structure in which one main common information processing apparatus having a common display unit having a size sufficiently large for attendants to commonly look and some personal information processing apparatuses for permitting each attendant to exclusively create, display and edit information adjacent to each attendant are connected to one another to form a network communication structure through a data communication passage. When a certain attendant acquires an operation right, an information input space is displayed on the personal display unit of the attendant while permitting the attendant to input information. Information inputted to the information input space is, after completed and as an information object, displayed on the common display unit of the common information processing apparatus and the personal display units of all of the personal information processing apparatuses.

  • Patent number: 6240165
Abstract: A communication support system includes a caller ID detection unit which detects a caller ID sent from a telephone network upon incoming of a call. A line switching unit switches on a first line between a voice signal path from a telephone set and a voice signal path from the telephone network before the connection between the telephone set and the telephone network is established. The line switching unit switches off the first line and switches on a second line between the voice signal path from the telephone set and a voice signal path from a data processing device after the caller ID is detected by the caller ID detection unit. The data processing device has a main control unit which retrieves a caller profile from a database in response to the caller ID detected by the caller ID detection unit, and transmits a. synthesized voice signal indicating the caller profile to the telephone set through the second line when the line switching unit switches on the second line.

  • Patent number: 6044133
Abstract: A communication support system includes a predetermined signal detection unit which detects a predetermined signal sent by a telephone unit when a telephone call between the telephone unit and a telephone network is in progress. A telephone condition detection unit detects a condition of the telephone unit. A line unit disconnects the telephone unit from the telephone network and connects the telephone unit to a data processing device when the predetermined signal is detected. A voice recognition unit determines which of a plurality of telephone services is indicated by a voice command signal sent by the telephone unit when the telephone unit is disconnected from the telephone network and connected to the data processing device.

  • Patent number: 5889842
Abstract: A communication system has a first communication terminal and a second communication terminal connected to a network. Communication can be performed by the first and second communication terminals in a plurality of modes. The first communication terminal has a detecting unit to detect calls that are refused by the second communication terminal and that are performed in a first mode when a second mode has been set. Based on the detection of the detecting unit, a first calling unit calls the second communication terminal in the second mode. Using the second mode, when the call from the first calling unit is accepted, a mode switching instruction unit instructs the second communication terminal to switch from the second mode to the first mode. Based on a response to an instruction from the mode switching instruction unit, a second calling unit calls the second communication terminal in the first mode. The second communication terminal includes a mode switching response unit.

  • Patent number: 5764643
Abstract: An ISDN interface unit interconnects a data processing unit, an ISDN, and an analog telephone and comprises a DMA request signal generation circuit for generating a DMA request signal from an 8 kHz clock signal from an ISDN line. In accordance with the request signal, PCM coded data input from the ISDN line is transferred, using DMA, to a memory of the data processing unit or vice versa, or the ISDN interface unit comprises a code conversion circuit, data stored in the data processing unit are converted to nonlinear PCM coded data and transmitted to the ISDN line or vice versa. Further, the ISDN interface unit comprises communication functions for the digital signal and for the voice band signal, a control channel signal sent from the ISDN line is interpreted, and one of the communication functions can be selected.
