  • Patent number: 5545023
Abstract: A pressure molding apparatus for molten resin in which an oil-pressurized cylinder internally holding an end of gate pin can freely move in compatibility with thermal elongation or contraction of a manifold pipe. In addition, a limit switch to be activated by the descending movement of this cylinder in correspondence with the descending movement of the gate pin is interlinked to a molten-resin supply source. By provision of these mechanisms, molten resin can smoothly be delivered to the interior of a molding unit without obstruction. Since substantial space is provided around this cylinder, pipes can easily be installed. Furthermore the inner later surface of the gate aperture on the side of the gate pin is provided with an obtuse angle wider than the tip angle of the gate pin, and a tapered hole having an adequate length and tapered diameter expanding itself from the gate aperture to the inner surface of the molding unit is provided.

  • Patent number: 5286236
Abstract: A novel and improved rotary shaft coupling including a ball-type speed reducer. A driving disc is coupled to a driven disc through a plurality of balls loosely held in a circular array of holes. Each ball registers with opposing faces of elliptic and hypocycloidal grooves of the driven and driving disc, respectively. When the driving disc is rotated, the balls transmit a turning force through the grooves to the driven disc. Speed reduction is determined by the number of waves in the hypocycloidal groove exceeding, by an even number, the number of balls.

  • Patent number: 5236399
Abstract: A rocker-joint silent chain in which the pin insertion holes for each link have rocker-joint connecting pin means extending therethrough. Each pin insertion hole has two opposed, spaced-apart surfaces each having the cross-section form of arcs of uniform radius. The centers of curvature of said two surfaces are offset from one another so that they define an arcuate, but noncircular, cavity which is effective to wedge said connecting pin in load-transmitting relationship to its associated link when the chain is driven.

  • Patent number: 5215505
Abstract: An endless belt, for use in a variable speed transmission comprising at least one pulley having opposed conical surfaces, comprises a loop-shaped stack of I-shaped friction plates having left and right recesses, with chains located in the recesses in side-by-side relationship. Each chain comprises interleaved link plates, and the chains are out of phase with each other by one-half the pitch distance. Each friction plate is engaged, in driving relationship, in notches in the link plates of one of the two chains, and the next friction plate is engaged, in driving relationship, in notches of the link plates of the other chain. There are no friction plates which are not engaged in notches of the link plates. Consequently less pressure and improved friction are achieved. The preferred link plate comprises two separable layers formed by stamping. In one preferred embodiment, the chains comprise interleaved groups of link plates of uniform thickness, and each group consists of the same number of link plates.

  • Patent number: 5026331
Abstract: An improved rocker joint pin type CVT chain has link plates connected by rocker joints, each including a rocker pin and a seat pin in an insertion bore of the link plate, the rocker pin and the seat pin making rolling contact along opposing rolling arcuate surfaces thereof as the chain bends and straightens when passing around a pulley. At respective minimums, the sectional area of the link plate formed between the link plate insertion bore and the outer periphery of the link plate relative to the pulley, is greater than the sectional area formed between the link plate insertion bore and the inner periphery. The radii of curvature of the inner rolling contact surfaces of the rocker pin and seat pin are smaller than those of the outer rolling contact surfaces.

  • Patent number: 4917658
Abstract: An improved friction drive chain especially for a continuously variable transmission has a plurality of friction plates, each of the friction plates being substantially I-shaped in lateral section. The friction plates are arranged adjacent one another and connected by connecting link elements received in recesses formed in both lateral sides of the friction plates between upper and lower beam members of said friction plates. The connecting link elements are laterally grooved to bear longitudinally against the friction plates. The outer surfaces of the lower beam members of the plates define friction drive surfaces for contact with driving and/or driven pulleys. The friction plates are heat treated to increase strength, for example by quenching and annealing. The friction drive surfaces are formed with hardened layers by surface hardening treatment such as by electron beam or laser.
