  • Patent number: 5221391
Abstract: A preform for forming fiber reinforced plastics which involves a reinforcing fiber layer composed of aligned continuous reinforcing fiber formed by winding and a heat-meltable fiber layer wound on the reinforcing fiber layer, the layers being piled up alternately in plural layers and in such a way that the outermost layer is constituted of the reinforcing fiber layer and the reinforcing fiber layers being melt-bonded with each other by the heat-meltable fiber to form an integral body, and to a process for producing the same. The preform is suited for use in producing plastic formed articles of high strength and high rigidity employed for frames, plate springs, and other parts of automobiles, vehicles, etc.

  • Patent number: 4849150
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a fiber-reinforced resin pipe which including the steps of forming a plurality of layers by alternately winding a cloth-like material and a continuous fiber on a core. Placing the core in a split type outer mold having an inner surface which forms a desired outer surface of the pipe. Injecting a liquid synthetic resin between the outer mold and the core so that the liquid resin is integrated with the layers and cured into a molded product. Removing the molded product from the outer mold after the resin has cured and removing the core form the molded product.

  • Patent number: 4746386
Abstract: A method of producing a continuous fiber reinforced bent resin pipe, including winding a continuous reinforcing fiber on the outer surface of a tube-like flexible core mold while such core mold is straight in shape, the flexible core mold which is straight when unloaded being capable of keeping a cross section defined in radial direction when the core mold is bent. The core mold on which the continuous fiber has been wound is then bent and placed into a cavity defined by an outer mold formed of split molds each having an inner surface forming the predetermined outer configuration of a bent pipe. A liquefied synthetic resin is caused to be cured between the outer and the core molds to integrate both the fiber and resin. Thereafter the molded product is removed from the outer mold and the core mold is removed from the molded product.
