  • Patent number: 6337840
Abstract: A recording and/or playback apparatus using a disc cartridge that accommodates a recording medium such as an optical disc includes a holder, a recording and/or playback section, and a moving mechanism. The holder holds a recording medium that is inserted in the apparatus. When mounted with the recording medium that is held by the holder, the recording and/or playback section performs recording or playback on the recording medium. The moving mechanism moves the holder between a mounting position where to mount the recording medium on the recording and/or playback section and an dismounting position where to separate the recording medium from the recording and/or playback section.

  • Patent number: 6249501
Abstract: A recording apparatus of a recording medium is comprised of a lid, a lock mechanism, an operating mechanism and a transmitting mechanism. The lid is rotatably arranged at the main body of the apparatus so as to open or close an installing part for the recording medium. The lock mechanism locks the lid at a closed position against the main body of the apparatus. The operating mechanism is arranged at the main body of the apparatus. The transmitting mechanism is arranged between the operating mechanism and the lock mechanism. The transmitting mechanism has a resilient displacement member for use in transmitting an operation of the operating mechanism to the lock mechanism. The resilient displacement member is moved between a transmitting position where an operation of the operating mechanism is transmitted to the lock mechanism to release the locked state of the lid with the lock mechanism and a non-transmitting position where it is retracted from the operating mechanism and the lock mechanism.

  • Patent number: 6088203
Abstract: A magnetic head vertical movement device for a magnetic-optical recording and/or reproducing apparatus for use with a disk cartridge, within which a magneto-optical disc is accommodated. The device includes a vertical movement drive mechanism for a magnetic head. The vertical movement drive mechanism carries out the vertical movement of the head between a first position where the magnetic head is caused to carry out the recording of information signals when the holder is located at a falling position, a second position above the first position, at which the head is located when the recording and/or reproduction unit is in a non-recording state, and a third position above the second position, at which the magnetic head is located when the holder is located at a rising position. The device avoids contact between the disk cartridge and the magnetic head at the time of insertion and withdrawal of the disk cartridge.

  • Patent number: 5901015
Abstract: A magnetic head apparatus has a reduced thickness by preventing a jumping action of a magnetic head that can occur in a head-up state. A leaf spring has a first end and a second end opposite to the first end, and the leaf spring supporting the magnetic head at the first end, the leaf spring having a surface facing the magnetic medium. A mount member holds the leaf spring, the leaf spring being mounted to the mount member at the second end. A supporting portion extends from the mount member, and engages the surface of the leaf spring at a position between the magnetic head and the mount member.

  • Patent number: 5790349
Abstract: The rotary head device for recording and/or regenerating signals so as to form a plurality of inclined tracks parallel each other along the longitudinal direction of each recording region on and/or from a tape recording medium such as magnetic tape having two recording regions divided along the longitudinal direction of the tape recording medium has a rotation drum, rotationally driving means, and the first and second head components. The tape recording medium is wound around the rotation drum with a prescribed angle. The rotation drum is rotated by the rotationally driving means. The first head component is provided on any one side of top and bottom sides of the rotation drum. The first head component involves recording and/or regeneration of signals of one region of the two recording regions of the tape recording medium.

  • Patent number: 4498937
Abstract: During liquid phase epitaxial growth of a compound semiconductor layer on a substrate, an unsaturated solution is brought into contact with a solute source crystalline plate. The plate dissolves into the solution, which creates a supercooling condition in the solution without a decrease in the temperature of the solution. The crystalline plate has a denser crystal face than that of the substrate, and/or the lattice constant of the crystalline plate is considerably different from that of the substrate.
