  • Patent number: 6050196
Abstract: A carrier car, for conveyance by a carrier car conveying chain, may be stopped at a desired position at a work station or in a storage section and re-started from the stopped position. A carrier car conveying chain 3 is disposed in an endlessly entrained fashion on one side of the work station or storage section. Shoe members 2 attached to the underside of the carrier car are supported on conveying rollers 4A and 4B of the conveying chain 3. A traveling track is disposed on the opposite side of the work station or storage section and traveling wheels of the carrier car are supported for rolling movement on the traveling track. The rotational friction force of the conveying rollers is made larger than the rolling friction force of the traveling wheels.

  • Patent number: 5826112
Abstract: A lens-fitted photo film unit includes a housing which incorporates an exposure mechanism and is pre-loaded with photo film. A packaging cardboard covers the housing. An identification sign is disposed outside the housing in externally readable fashion, and signals information of one kind of the housing. In classification of the photo film unit, the packaging cardboard is removed from the housing. The identification sign is read, to detect the one kind of the housing. Three downstream paths are disposed and respectively associated with three kinds of housings. The housing is transferred to one of the downstream paths in association with the detected one kind. In a preferred embodiment, the identification sign includes a combination of smooth and rough faces, which are different in optical reflectance from one another. The combination constitutes the information of the one kind of the housing. Preferably, a lower critical value is determined for a surface roughness of the rough face.

  • Patent number: 5427224
Abstract: An apparatus for conveying and aligning various types of film packages recovered for recycling. A conveyer of the apparatus is constructed by a pair of parallel belts combined to form a V-shaped bearing gutter and driven in the same conveying direction. The film packages are conveyed on the conveyer and are slid downward through an inclined cylindrical tube which rotates about the longitudinal axis and has spiral ridges on the inner periphery. Thereby, the longitudinal direction of the film packages are aligned with the conveying direction. Then a posture discriminator discriminates between the upright posture and the upside-down posture of the film packages on a first conveying path, based on the position of the viewfinder. The film packages having the upright posture are caused to fall headlong from the first conveying path onto a second conveying path, so as to have the upside-down posture on the second conveying path.

  • Patent number: 5300179
Abstract: An apparatus for manufacturing a magnetic disk wherein a center core having an adhesive substance previously applied thereto is adhered to a magnetic sheet. The apparatus includes a holder having a center core retaining member extending therefrom for receiving and retaining the center core, the holder being rotatable such that the retaining member rotates about an orbital path; a core feed station, disposed along the orbital path, to which the center core having the adhesive applied thereto is fed, the center core being received by the retaining member at the core feed station; an adhering station disposed along the orbital path at a position downstream of the core feed station for adhering the center core to the sheet; and an annular housing substantially surrounding the orbital path an through which hot air is circulated so as to partially dry the adhesive applied to the center core.

  • Patent number: 5056923
Abstract: An optical thickness measuring apparatus comprises a light source, a spectral device which separates light produced by the light source into its spectral components, and a photodetector for detecting the light which has been separated by the spectral device into its spectral components and which has been scatter-reflected by a material being subjected to thickness measurement, said photodetector receiving only scatter-reflected light. An operation processing device calculates either one of variables a* or b* of an L*a*b* colorimetric system or either one of variable u* or v* of an L*u*v* colorimetric system on the basis of information about the light which has been scatter-reflected by the material. The information is received from the photodetector. A thickness calculating device calculates the thickness of the material from the value of the variable calculated by the operation processing device.

  • Patent number: 4896040
Abstract: A light beam containing at least ultraviolet light in a predetermined wave range is projected onto a portion of a floppy disk casing applied with a liner, and ultraviolet light in the predetermined wave range contained in reflected light from each point on the portion of the casing is received. The intensity of the received ultraviolet light corresponding to each point is subjected to a threshold processing and whether the liner is applied to the inner surface of the casing in a satisfactory state is determined on the basis of the result of the threshold processing.

  • Patent number: 4829249
Abstract: A method of inspecting surface defects in a magnetic disk. First, a predetermined inspection signal is recorded on a randomly selected track of the magnetic disk during a first rotation of the disk. Second, during a second rotation of the disk, the inspection signal is read and a read signal is produced. Then, during a third rotation of the disk, the value of the read signal is compared with a reference value to determine whether any surface defect exists, and a seek operation is performed to move to the next track of the magnetic disk which is inspected. During one of the second and third rotations of the disk, the read signal is used to set a new reference value to be used in a surface defect inspection of a new track to be inspected.

  • Patent number: 4752696
Abstract: In order to inspect a floppy disk casing for projection of a liner beyond an edge of the casing, a light beam is projected in the direction of the thickness of the casing so that at least a part of the light beam passes near the edge of the casing on the side of the edge opposite to the casing, and whether the liner projects beyond the edge is determined on the basis of the amount of light received by a light receiving means disposed in a direction in which, when a portion of the liner projects beyond the edge, the light beam is scattered by the projecting portion of the liner and which deviates from the direction of straight travel of the light beam.
