  • Patent number: 4561724
Abstract: A liquid crystal display cell comprising a pair of facing plastic films, a pair of transparent electrodes, each said electrode being formed on the facing surfaces of the films, a liquid crystal enclosed between the films, and a pair of polarizing films, each being provided on the opposite surface of the plastic film, the plastic film comprising a polyester film having a density of 1.380.about.1.420 g/cm.sup.3 and three-way refractive indexes within the following range:-0.03.ltoreq.(n.sub.1 +n.sub.3)/2-n.sub.2 .ltoreq.+0.05,and1.480.ltoreq.n.sub.3 >1.525whereinn.sub.1 =refractive index in the principal oriented direction;n.sub.2 =refractive index in the direction intersecting perpendicularly to n.sub.1 and n.sub.3 ; andn.sub.3 =refractive index in the direction of film thickness. The liquid crystal display cell thus constructed according to the present invention offers excellent flexibility and a nice display with clarity and lightness.

  • Patent number: 4399179
Abstract: A polyester laminated film which comprises a transparent layer and delustered layer(s) laminated at least on one side face of the transparent layer is provided. The transparent layer is formed by a biaxially stretched polyester film mainly composed of polyethylene terephthalate, while the delustered layer is made of an at least uniaxially stretched polyester film which is mainly composed of a polyethylene terephthalate copolymer containing, as a copolymer composition, 1 to 20 mole % of ##STR1## wherein n is an integer from 2 to 140, and x represents ##STR2## and which also contains inert inorganic particles of 0.3 to 20 microns at 3 to 40% by weight. The film of the present invention as described above is roughened on the surface, and is superior in the writability and transcribability by pencils, ink, indian ink, etc., with an excellent transparency, and therefore, very useful for tracing films and the like.

  • Patent number: 4255516
Abstract: A photographic support of a composite polyester film in which additives and oligomers can be incorporated in the support without exerting any undesirable effects upon photographic characteristics, which film is constructed by an inner layer of polyester containing volatile diffusible substances or exudative substances, and a covering layer of another sort of polyester, with which both sides of the inner layer are covered, not containing the above-described substances judging from practical viewpoint and that, having a glass transition point equal to or higher than that of the inner layer, and which film is orientated along at least one prescribed axis.
