  • Publication number: 20020144292
Abstract: When a noise level of upward signal received by a center equipment exceeds a predetermined maximum noise level, line equipment located the closest upstream from a noise source is specified and attenuation of the upward signal on the specified line equipment is increased in levels until the noise level of the upward signal received by the center equipment is equal to or under the maximum noise level. Accordingly, it is possible to prevent abnormal noise to affect the whole system without interrupting the upward signal from a cable modem located downstream of the noise source to the center equipment.

  • Publication number: 20010015967
Abstract: A LAN constituted over a pair of buildings, located a distance from each other, comprises hubs, a server and personal computers. In the LAN, a wired LAN including a wireless transmission section between the pair of buildings, and a wireless LAN including wireless access sections between an access point and wireless terminals are connected to each other. A transmission frequency band (5 GHz) used in the wireless transmission section and a transmission frequency band (2.4 GHz) used in the wireless access sections are set to be distinct from each other so that the deterioration of transmission quality by interference of electric waves used in both of the wireless sections can be securely prevented.

  • Patent number: 4677847
Abstract: The present invention describes a method and apparatus for monitoring and indicating engine oil deterioration during the period of the oil's useful life in an internal combustion engine. The system and method permits a determination of the rate of deterioration of the engine oil as a function of oil temperature or RPM of the engine and provides a continous output signal representing the remaining useful life of the oil which is provided to the driver when desired. The present invention therefore, estimates the time when the oil will reach an undesirable deterioration level during the course of operation of the engine rather than indicating, as many prior art systems, only when the oil reaches an undesirable level requiring an oil change.

  • Patent number: 4608710
Abstract: An apparatus for receiving satellite broadcasts comprises a frequency converter for outdoor use to which a receiving antenna is to be connected and a station selector for indoor use to which a television receiver is to be connected, the converter and the selector being connected to each other by a transmission line. The selector supplies the converter with a station-selection signal corresponding to a channel as chosen by the user, through the transmission line. Upon reception of the selection signal, the converter picks up the channel signal corresponding to the selection signal from a number of different broadcast microwave signals intercepted by the antenna, and sends the selected signal to the selector through the line. The signal is then received by the television receiver.
