  • Patent number: 5581311
Abstract: A digital still camera having increased operation speed without substantial cost increases. The digital still camera is provided with an imaging unit which outputs image signals indicative of a frame of a subject, a temporary storage unit which accumulates the image signals, a storage unit having a storage area for the image signals, the storage area being organized by an area control system, an area control unit which drives the imaging unit and the temporary storage unit for each frame and concurrently identifying a free storage area in the storage unit, and a recording control unit which records header information indicating a type of the image signals, the recording control unit recording the image signals accumulated in the temporary storage unit into the identified free storage.

  • Patent number: 4758883
Abstract: A completely electronic color camera for electronically recording an image of an object. The image signals from a solid-state image sensor having color filters are converted to digital form so that the digitized image signals are applied to the same number of coding compression circuits, e.g. differential pulse code modulation circuits, as the kinds of colors of the color filters per scanning line, are subjected to a color separation coding processing and are then stored directly in a memory without performing any additional processing. Error detecting and correctng circuits are provided. Error detecting and correcting data and lens setting data are added to the image data and recorded. The camera is reduced in size, is low in power consumption and requires a reduced memory capacity per frame.

  • Patent number: 4614977
Abstract: A still picture signal conversion apparatus converts a still picture signal reproduced in the form of an electric signal from a video tape or disk, still picture video camera or the like to a low-velocity narrow-band signal suited for use in a facsimile system utilizing the ordinary telephone circuit or a hard copying apparatus and performs the desired trimming operation on the signal when delivering the same. A selected portion of each horizontal scan line is taken out as a sampled digital picture signal and the number of the horizontal picture elements is compensated for by the method of sampling frequency adjustment or weighted interpolation. To effect the vertical trimming, the digital picture signal is stored temporarily every horizontal scan line in a plurality of memories so that portion of the signal to be retained by the trimming is selectively read out and the deficient number of scan lines is compensated for by the method of weighted interpolation.
