Abstract: In a image processing apparatus, a predetermined processing is performed in response to occurrence of an abnormal condition that an image forming job cannot be executed. A first processing is preset for the apparatus as a common processing to respond to the abnormal condition. A second processing is set for the image forming job as a processing to respond to the abnormal condition. Either the first processing or the second processing is selected according to priorities assigned thereto. The selected processing is performed in response to occurrence of the abnormal condition when the abnormal condition occurs. The processing to handle the abnormal condition can flexibly be selected from among a plurality of processings according to the environment in which the printer system is placed.

Abstract: When an operator starts an operation for copying in full-color image forming mode, a predetermined warning to copy-protected materials and others is given to the operator, and an actual copy cannot be performed unless the operator confirms this warning. When the operator starts the operation of copying in the full-color image forming mode, and/or during the copying operation, a third party such as a manager of the copying machine is notified of these facts for enabling help in the copying operation and finding the copying of copy-protected materials.

Abstract: In an image forming apparatus capable of coloring a plurality of color editing areas, color data C1 through CDN corresponding to a hue circle are stored in memory beforehand, the number N of color data is divided by the number of areas targeted for coloring to derive a quotient to set a standard color, and the colors are selected for every other number of the quotient, and said colors are appended to the respective color editing areas, thereby reducing the user setting sequence and accomplishing well balanced coloring.

Abstract: In marker edition mode, characters such as a character line is read in a closed area on a document marked with a marker. Then, the image data is analyzed to decide image processing means for marker edition such as coloring. A rectangular area including the image is recognized as image processing area. Even if the image is included partially in the closed area marked with a marker, a rectangular area including the image wholly can be specified as image processing area.

Abstract: In order to improve operability of a copying machine which applies an image processing to an area of an original surrounded by a marker, following processes are carried out. An area of an original surrounded by a marker is detected. It is determined whether or not the number of the detected areas exceeds 30, or the time from starting of detection exceeds three minutes during the detection. If any of those two conditions is satisfied, edit based on the marker is not executed and image data which has undergone full-color copying is output.

Abstract: An image processing device includes a reader for reading an original image and generating image data; a display for displaying a plurality of screens for selecting a desired image edit mode from a plurality of image edit modes, each of the screens having image edit modes which are different between each screens; a display control for selecting a screen among the plurality of screens in response to the type of original image and causing the display to display the selected screen; and image editer for performing image processing on the image data outputted in response to an image edit mode selected through the selected screen.
