  • Patent number: 6222967
Abstract: A packaging platform for optically coupling one or more optical waveguides of one or more optical components having the optical waveguide to one or more optical fibers is provided with a reference structure portion for the horizontal and vertical positioning of the optical component. The platform is further provided with one or more fiber positioning portions for inserting and holding the optical fiber and positioning the optical fiber at a position where the optical fiber is optically connected to the optical waveguide. The provided packaging platform and an optical module using the platform can simplify all alignment steps for optical coupling, electrical connection and sealing in the coupling of the optical component and the optical fiber.

  • Patent number: 6164836
Abstract: An opto-electronic hybrid integrated circuit of the present invention satisfies a low-loss optical waveguide function, an optical bench function and a high-frequency electrical wiring function. The circuit includes a substrate such as a silicon substrate, a dielectric optical waveguide part arranged in a recess of the substrate, and an optical device mounting part formed on a protrusion of the substrate. An electrical wiring part is disposed on the dielectric layer. The optical device is mounted on the substrate. An optical sub-module includes the optical device which is possible to mount on the substrate.

  • Patent number: 6128670
Abstract: An image input device is disclosed that employs a generic interface. Upon connection of the image input device to a host device, an interface control circuit causes the host device to recognize the image input device as a removable device. The interface control circuit then executes a response to the host device indicating that a disk medium is not inserted while an image reading construct is reading an image, converts the digital data to image data of a file format such as MS-DOS that can be read by the host device and stores the data to RAM. The interface control circuit then executes a response to the host device indicating that a disk medium is an inserted state when the image reading construct completes reading of the image.

  • Patent number: 4977470
Abstract: A track-following control system for a magnetic disk drive according to the present invention includes a magnetic disk, a magnetic head, a position error signal generator, a controller, and a stepping motor. One or more track position signals indicating a position of a track are recorded in the magnetic disk in numbers of sectors. The magnetic head writes and reads out normal data in and from the magnetic disk, and reads out the track position signal from the magnetic disk in the same manner. The position error signal generator generates a position error signal indicating a position error between the magnetic head and the track based on a track position signal. The controller calculates intra-sector errors by calculating an average position error of each sector and a desired number of estimated position errors of the corresponding sector by interpolation.
