Patent number: 8078113Abstract: An adaptive antenna control method is used for a radio communication system built by a plurality of radio base stations and a plurality of terminal stations capable of communicating with the radio base stations. Each radio base station includes an adaptive antenna having a plurality of antenna elements, a distributor for generating signals to be input to the plurality of antenna elements by branching a signal of one system to be transmitted, and weighting circuits for respectively weighting transmission signals to the plurality of antenna elements. Patent number: 7236199Abstract: A camera comprises a multitap imager, separate digitizing channels for each imager tap, adjustments for channel gain and black level, a pattern generator, and a channel balancer. The channel balancer compares adjacent pixels and sums the differences in levels over many frames. Any accumulated difference is used as a feedback signal to drive the summing to a minimum. If the imager is temporarily hooded, the feedback is used to balance black levels between the channels. If the imager is operating, the feedback is used to dynamically adjust the channel gain of one channel to match the other. A pattern generator is used once during calibration to generate a test pattern in the digitizing channels that makes it obvious to a framegrabber how exactly to restitching the various lanes or zones of the whole image frame back together.Type: GrantFiled: July 7, 2003Date of Patent: June 26, 2007Inventors: Toshikazu Hori, Chik Bor (Paul) Cheng, Hai (Jonathan) Lin

Publication number: 20050134711Abstract: A CCD video camera system comprises a CCD imaging device connected to a low-gain amplifier. An analog-to-digital converter converts the analog output of the amplifier to a full-range digital video signal. Such addresses a digital look-up table to produce a digital video output according to one of several selectable range-correction curves. Such range-correction curves comprise two linear slopes that join at a knee, and the two linear parts have two different gain slopes. The range-correction curves are selected on the basis of the gain slope of the first of the two linear slopes, and the knee-point.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 20, 2005Publication date: June 23, 2005Inventor: Toshikazu Hori

Patent number: 6735182Abstract: In an array antenna used in a transceiver in a time division communication system such as TDD (Time Division Duplex) system, amplitude and phase of each antenna element are calibrated in a transceiver itself during actual communication without using external information. A first transmitter (1-3-1) has means (1-5-1) to send a transmit signal to an antenna element (1-1-1) as well as to at least one of the receivers (1-4-1 through 1-4-N). Other transmitter (1-3-2 through 1-3-k) except the first transmitter has means (1-5-k) which sends a transmit signal to a related antenna element (1-1-2 through 1-1-k) as well as to a first receiver (1-4-1) which relates to the first transmitter. Amplitude/phase value obtained in the first receiver (1-4-1) and amplitude/phase values obtained in other receivers (1-4-2 through 1-4-k) except the first receiver provide weighted amplitude/phase values of each antenna elements according to desired desired radiation pattern.Type: GrantFiled: June 19, 2000Date of Patent: May 11, 2004Assignee: Nippon Telegraph and Telephone CorporationInventors: Kentaro Nishimori, Keizo Cho, Yasushi Takatori, Toshikazu Hori

Patent number: 6638787Abstract: A fast frame-rate imaging device is produced by a attaching a fiberoptic block to an otherwise ordinary and inexpensive CCD. A part of the fiberoptic block is occluded so as to darken a majority of the active imaging photocells. The CCD imaging device is operated at near its maximum horizontal and vertical clock rates, but multiple image frames are defined within the one previous active photocell array field. The added dark areas in the optical field protect the recent frames still in transit within the active array area from being double exposed and thus corrupted. The serial output of the thus-modified CCD imaging device is reinterpreted to include more frames than originally at a multiple equal to the original array dimension divided by the new array dimension (m·n/m′·n′). Such a modified CCD array uses only one-fourth of the original active area, and is operable at a multiple of the original frame rate.Type: GrantFiled: December 4, 2001Date of Patent: October 28, 2003Assignees: Pulnix America, Inc., Stanford Photonics, Inc.Inventors: Michael Paul Buchin, Toshikazu Hori

Patent number: 6292135Abstract: An adaptive array antenna system for stable directivity control and waveform equalization even under poor multipath environment is provided. An output of antenna elements (A1011-A101n) is weight combined (A103), and is output through automatic frequency control (A106) and fractionally spaced adaptive transversal filter (A107) which have real number weights. Weight combination (A103) is initially carried out with weights for an eigen vector beam for the maximum eigen vector of the correlation matrix Rxx of a receive signal After carrier synchronization and timing synchronization between a receive signal, and an A/D converter and a fractionally spaced transversal filter are established by the automatic frequency control and the fractionally spaced transversal filter, the weight in the weight combiner (A103) is switched to minimum mean square error (MMSE) weight.Type: GrantFiled: April 4, 2000Date of Patent: September 18, 2001Assignee: Nippon Telegraph and Telephone CorporationInventors: Yasushi Takatori, Keizo Cho, Kentaro Nishimori, Toshikazu Hori
