  • Patent number: 6999062
Abstract: A remote commander and methods for activating a user interface of a remote commander and for providing efficient power consumption are provided which prevent the resulting increase in use and complexity of the user interface, the subsequent decrease in operational battery life, and the added decrease in operational battery life related to the utilization of a back-light function. In one embodiment, the remote commander includes at least one user interface attached to at least one hinge means and at least one microprocessor in electrical communication with the user interface. The microprocessor is configured to activate the user interface which is currently addressable to a user. In another embodiment, the method for activating a user interface of a remote commander includes providing a plurality of user interfaces, with each of the user interfaces electrically connected to a connector, and activating the user interface that is currently addressable to the user.

  • Publication number: 20030052648
Abstract: An apparatus and method for battery level detection of a remote control device including a voltage detection device coupled to a battery for generating a reset signal upon detecting a low voltage condition. A microprocessor is coupled to the voltage detection device, the microprocessor generating an output signal upon receiving a reset signal and a key signal. A display which is not coupled to the remote control device for receiving the output signal and indicating the low voltage condition. Further, a software algorithm is provided to calculate and analyze the voltage hysteresis of the battery to detect the low voltage condition of the battery.

  • Patent number: 6104341
Abstract: An SHF-band receiving apparatus is used for demodulating a signal received by an antenna and input through a cable by using an indoor receiving unit which comprises; demodulation means for demodulating an input signal supplied thereto through the cable; detection means for detecting a detection signal representing the direction of the antenna from a demodulated signal output by the demodulation means; and output means for generating a modulated signal for displaying information on the direction of the antenna by modulation of a carrier signal based on the detection signal produced by the detection means and for outputting the modulated signal through the cable to the antenna side.

  • Patent number: 5675395
Abstract: A remote receiver is disclosed that accepts command signals from infrared transmitters and radio frequency transmitters and that combined the command signals into a final non overlapping command signal according to a preselected priority among the command signals.

  • Patent number: 5500691
Abstract: A video system is disclosed including a receiver that generates a remote identifier setup display on a television monitor and further including a remote control unit having a radio frequency transmitter and an infrared transmitter. The video system enables a user to enter a remote control identifier for the radio frequency transmitter through the remote identifier setup display using the infrared transmitter. The receiver initially ignores remote command signals received from the radio frequency transmitter until the remote control identifier is entered.
