  • Patent number: 6729455
Abstract: A structure and a method for supporting an electromagnetic coupling (1) onto a vehicle body (347) is disclosed as being interposed between a center support bearing (37) remaining closer to a propeller shaft (319) and a center support bearing (37) remaining closer to a propeller shaft (321). The center support bearings (37, 37) are fixedly mounted to the vehicle body via shock absorbing members (35, 35), respectively.

  • Patent number: 6439335
Abstract: In the transfer attachment construction of a 4WD vehicle, to facilitate assembly by making the retainer attachment bolts easier to tighten, to improve the coupling reliability of the retainer and mount bracket, to make easier the manufacture of the retainer by simplifying its design, to improve yield, and to make it less expensive, the retainer attachment bolts are prevented from interfering with the bracket attachment bosses. The bracket attachment bosses are disposed close enough to the transfer pinion axle center to avoid overlapping between the bracket attachment bosses and the retainer attachment bolts.

  • Patent number: 6223858
Abstract: High and low speed gears of a vehicle transmission are selectively lubricated by transmission oil flung by a final ring gear. A first oil gutter directs the transmission oil to low speed gears when the transmission oil is flung at low speed. At higher speed, the transmission oil is flung past the first gutter to be received by a second gutter from which it flows to lubricate high speed gears.

  • Patent number: 5052239
Abstract: A transmission assembly for a vehicle including a transmission casing, at least two generally parallel transmission shafts rotatably supported within the casing, gears coacting between the transmission shafts for defining plural drive paths having different speed ratios, axially shiftable clutches coacting with the gears for permitting selection of different drive ratios between the transmission shafts, and a shifting and selecting mechanism for the clutches. The last-mentioned mechanism comprises a shift and select unit having a shift and select shaft which is rotatably and axially slidably supported relative to the casing. The shaft projects into the interior of the casing in generally perpendicular relationship with respect to the rotational axes of the transmission shafts. The shift and select shaft has a shaft end portion which projects outwardly through the wall of the transmission casing for a selected axial extent.
