Patent number: 7165898Abstract: An optical module for an optical device and an optical fiber is constituted by a pre-molded plastic package. In forming the plastic package, the main flowing direction of the molding resin is substantially parallel with the optical axis of the optical fiber. The optical module is formed by molding the resin by injection using pressure and then solidifying the resin. When the plastic package is formed by comprehensive molding, the flowing direction of the resin is parallel with the optical axis direction of the optical fiber to be installed in the optical module. As a result, for comprehensive molding, the molding pressure applied to the optical fiber is reduced. By using the resin case that is formed, the resulting package exhibits high rigidity and low thermal expansion properties in connection with the flowing direction of the resin, thus reducing the external stress and thermal stress applied to the optical fiber.Type: GrantFiled: February 27, 2004Date of Patent: January 23, 2007Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Takeshil Kato, Koji Yoshida, Toshinori Hirataka, Toshiaki Ishii, Kazuyuki Fukuda, Tadaaki Ishikawa, Toshimasa Miura, Tsutomu Kono, Kimio Tatsuno

Patent number: 6639890Abstract: An amplitude detection circuit detects the peak value of an output signal of a photo-detector amplified by a head amplifier. The peak value detected by the amplitude detection circuit is read into a drive controller, and compared with a target value suitable for coding in a binary format a detected signal. The gain of a variable gain amplifier is adjusted accordingly. Consequently, an analog signal processing circuit can stably codify the detected signal in a binary format. Under the control of the drive controller, a recording power level calculation circuit determines a test writing power level with which test writing is performed on a test track of a magneto-optical disk. The recording power level calculation circuit then calculates an actual record power for each zone of the magneto-optical disk according to the test writing power level.Type: GrantFiled: June 24, 1999Date of Patent: October 28, 2003Assignee: Olympus OpticalInventors: Toshimasa Miura, Yoshihisa Miyazaki, Yuichi Tsuchimochi, Yasuhiro Fujiwara, Naoyuki Sato, Yoshiyuki Fukuya
