Abstract: A data processing device processes print data based on print information to quickly provide a printing form desired by a user. The device comprises first converting means for converting a command form of a hard control command for a printer to a command form for a display wherein the hard control command is defined corresponding to the print data. Second converting means converts a coordinate of the print data to the coordinate for the display according to the print control information assigned in the print data to load the print data into a print data memory. Display control means sends out the print data loaded into the print data memory with the hard control command converted by the first converting means and displays the print data to a display screen of a display with a display form corresponding to a print form.

Abstract: A character resource management system manages character resources to be down loaded into an output device. The character resource management system includes a first management unit for managing character styles of the character resources which may be down loaded into the output device and a second management unit for managing character pattern sets used for the character styles managed by the first management unit. Each of the character pattern sets managed by the second management unit corresponds to one of characteristics of output devices which may be coupled to the character resource management system.

Abstract: A data processor having a page turning function, for managing a plurality of data sets each containing a plurality of data units of different kinds, has an extraction portion, a decision portion, and an output control portion. The extraction portion is used to extract a data unit in a page ahead of the present page in response to a next page instruction, or in a page behind the present page in response to a previous page instruction, and the decision portion is used to determine whether or not the kind of the data unit extracted by the extraction portion is equal to the kind of a data unit in the present page. The output control portion is used to provide the data unit extracted by the extraction portion if the decision portion determines that they are equal to each other, and if the decision portion determines that they are unequal to each other, restarting the extraction process of the extracting portion. Therefore, the page turning operation can be rapidly and easily carried out.
