  • Publication number: 20040033037
Abstract: An optical fiber bundle includes a plurality of optical fibers bundled on an input terminal side and on an output terminal side. The optical fiber bundle receives light from the input terminal side, and outputs the light to the output terminal side. The optical fiber bundle has a feature in that the optical fiber are divided, on the input terminal side, individually or into a plurality of groups in accordance with output terminal side positions of the optical fiber. The optical fiber bundle is arranged to adjust input light for each of the optical fibers or for each of the groups.

  • Patent number: 6687439
Abstract: The present invention relates to a light-amplifying optical fiber comprising a structure for realizing a flat gain characteristic or oscillation characteristic in a wider wavelength band, and a method of making the same. The light-amplifying optical fiber according to the present invention comprises a second doped area containing a first doped area including an optical axis center and having a larger outer diameter than the first doped area. The second doped area is doped with at least one of Al2O3, P2O5, Y2O3, and B2O3 as an oxide of an element having a valence different from that of a cation constituting a main material of the light-amplifying optical fiber; whereas the first doped area is doped with at least one of Er, Nd, Tm, Yb, and Pr as a rare-earth element together with the oxide.

  • Patent number: 6450448
Abstract: A drive unit for a wheel of an airplane landing gear includes a pneumatic motor having a first impeller which is driven by pneumatic energy of compressed air and a second impeller which is turned by the expanded exhaust from the first impeller. These impellers are fixed to the wheel axle and turn together with a third impeller within an air-tight casing. A fixed vane is provided between the second and third impellers. The pneumatic motor has two functions, (1) as a pneumatic motor which is turned by the pneumatic energy of compressed air and, (2) as a vacuum brake, creating a vacuum within the airtight casing by closing the inlet for the compressed air and driving the impellers by the power of the turning wheel of the landing gear, driven by ground contact upon landing.

  • Publication number: 20020014459
Abstract: A method of regenerating an ion exchange resin, comprising the steps of packing a used ion exchange resin in a regeneration tower; and repeating at least twice a step comprising passing an aqueous solution of regenerant through the regeneration tower downward from a top part of the regeneration tower and thereafter passing ultra-pure water through the regeneration tower upward from a bottom of the regeneration tower. This method enables regenerating an ion exchange resin efficiently and homogeneously without mixing of the regenerant into ion exchange resin towers for purification.

  • Publication number: 20020015676
Abstract: A process for producing a purified aqueous hydrogen peroxide solution, comprising passing a charged aqueous hydrogen peroxide solution containing impurities through a purifier tower packed with an ion exchange resin, a chelate resin or an adsorption resin to thereby purify the charged aqueous hydrogen peroxide solution, wherein there are provided a feed pump of given output capable of causing the charged aqueous hydrogen peroxide solution to flow to the purifier tower and further a flow sensor capable of sensing a flow rate of charged aqueous hydrogen peroxide solution being fed to the purifier tower and wherein the output of the feed pump is controlled in cooperation with the flow sensor so as to bring the charged aqueous hydrogen peroxide solution into contact with the ion exchange resin, chelate resin or adsorption resin while maintaining the flow of charged aqueous hydrogen peroxide solution at a constant rate.

  • Patent number: 5249615
Abstract: The present invention provides a novel tread for a tire or anti-skid armor mounted on a tire. The tread has a central, circumferentially extending anti-skid zone, transverse tread members transverse to the anti-skid zone and driving tread members arranged in circumferentially extending driving zones on each side of the anti-skid zone. The anti-skid zone has a central circumferentially extending hollow or depression divided by transverse tread members to form a plurality of cavities each having a volume larger than one of the transverse tread members in the anti-skid zone. At least one elongated lug is associated with a transverse tread member, the lug being in close proximity to, parallel to and narrower than the associated transverse tread member. Each elongated lug protrudes radially beyond the associated transverse tread member.
