    Abstract: When a seat belt 14 is unfastened, reactive force against treading pressure on the accelerator pedal is enhanced by a pedal reactive force enhancer 10 even if a driver tries to drive a vehicle by turning on an ignition switch 18 and pressing on the accelerator pedal. Thus, it is possible to prompt the driver to fasten the seat belt. When the seat belt is unfastened in an emergency, although the reactive force against treading pressure on the accelerator pedal is enhanced, the driver can drive the vehicle by pressing the accelerator pedal harder. In this way, the driver can deal with such emergency.

    Abstract: A control system for an occupant restraint system including an airbag which is mounted on an automotive vehicle to protect a vehicle occupant from coming into direct contact with a steering wheel and/or a windshield. The control system comprises a control circuit including a microcomputer. The microcomputer is adapted to execute the following control. A decision is made to operate (inflate) the airbag when a vehicle deceleration exceeds a predetermined threshold level. The threshold level is changed at a timing which is set in accordance with a physical amount representative of a deceleration condition of the vehicle, thereby securely operating the airbag merely by making a simple adjustment to the control system.

    Abstract: A seat belt retractor for an automotive seat belt includes a housing having a spool arranged therein for winding the seat belt therearound. The seat belt passes between fixed and movable clamp portions arranged within the housing such that, under a condition where a collision sensor activates a pretensioner for tightening the seat belt in an emergency, the movable clamp is moved toward the fixed clamp for applying squeezing pressure to the seat belt to prevent extraction thereof from the retractor housing. The pretensioner may include a gas generator which pressurizes a cylinder so as to move a piston mounted within the cylinder very rapidly. The piston is operatively connected with the movable clamp and the spool via a wire for effecting substantially instantaneous clamping of the seat belt.

    Abstract: Herein disclosed is an improved belt anchoring device which is incorporated with a slidable seat. The device uses a monolithic metal bracket for connecting a slide rail of the seat to a pin holder which is slidable on a toothed anchor stay fixed to the vehicle floor together with the seat. Upon application of abnormal impact load thereto through the seat belt, the bracket is forced to bend to permit locking engagement between the pin holder and the anchor stay thereby assuredly and safely dispersing the impact load to the vehicle body through the belt anchoring device.
