Patent number: 7145447Abstract: A prompting apparatus for prompting to fasten a seatbelt for a vehicle, which includes: a detector which detects whether the seatbelt is fastened or unfastened; a warning device which warns that the seatbelt is unfastened and is capable of changing a warning level; and a controller which controls an actuation of the warning device. The controller intensifies a warning level of the warning device in steps in conjunction with a predetermined condition if the vehicle is in motion when the detector has detected that the seatbelt is unfastened.Type: GrantFiled: January 13, 2004Date of Patent: December 5, 2006Assignee: Nissan Motor Co., Ltd.Inventors: Toshimi Yamanoi, Nobufumi Shigehara

Patent number: 7093515Abstract: When a seat belt 14 is unfastened, reactive force against treading pressure on the accelerator pedal is enhanced by a pedal reactive force enhancer 10 even if a driver tries to drive a vehicle by turning on an ignition switch 18 and pressing on the accelerator pedal. Thus, it is possible to prompt the driver to fasten the seat belt. When the seat belt is unfastened in an emergency, although the reactive force against treading pressure on the accelerator pedal is enhanced, the driver can drive the vehicle by pressing the accelerator pedal harder. In this way, the driver can deal with such emergency.Type: GrantFiled: October 6, 2003Date of Patent: August 22, 2006Assignee: Nissan Motor Co., Ltd.Inventors: Toshimi Yamanoi, Toshio Hirota

Patent number: 5542700Abstract: A control system for an occupant restraint system mounted on the vehicle including an air-bag to protect the vehicle occupant from direct contact with a steering wheel or a windshield, comprises a control circuit for detecting deceleration of the vehicle, for integrating the value obtained by subtracting a predetermined integration offset from the deceleration to obtain an integrated value, for making a decision to operate the occupant restraint system when the integrated value exceeds a predetermined threshold level, for calculating a physical amount representative of a deceleration condition of the vehicle, for setting a changing timing at which the integration offset is changed in accordance with the physical amount, and for changing the integration offset of the changing timing.Type: GrantFiled: January 6, 1995Date of Patent: August 6, 1996Assignee: Nissan Motor Co., Ltd.Inventors: Jun Shibata, Hiroaki Obayashi, Makoto Kimura, Shuzo Fukuzumi, Hironori Yoshikawa, Atsushi Hitotsumatsu, Yukio Hashimoto, Toshimi Yamanoi, Seiji Takaya

Patent number: 5407228Abstract: A control system for an occupant restraint system including an airbag which is mounted on an automotive vehicle to protect a vehicle occupant from coming into direct contact with a steering wheel and/or a windshield. The control system comprises a control circuit including a microcomputer. The microcomputer is adapted to execute the following control. A decision is made to operate (inflate) the airbag when a vehicle deceleration exceeds a predetermined threshold level. The threshold level is changed at a timing which is set in accordance with a physical amount representative of a deceleration condition of the vehicle, thereby securely operating the airbag merely by making a simple adjustment to the control system.Type: GrantFiled: January 6, 1994Date of Patent: April 18, 1995Assignee: Nissan Motor Co., Ltd.Inventors: Jun Shibata, Hiroaki Obayashi, Makoto Kimura, Shuzo Fukuzumi, Hironori Yoshikawa, Atsushi Hitotsumatsu, Yukio Hashimoto, Toshimi Yamanoi, Seiji Takaya

Patent number: 5326043Abstract: A seat belt retractor for an automotive seat belt includes a housing having a spool arranged therein for winding the seat belt therearound. The seat belt passes between fixed and movable clamp portions arranged within the housing such that, under a condition where a collision sensor activates a pretensioner for tightening the seat belt in an emergency, the movable clamp is moved toward the fixed clamp for applying squeezing pressure to the seat belt to prevent extraction thereof from the retractor housing. The pretensioner may include a gas generator which pressurizes a cylinder so as to move a piston mounted within the cylinder very rapidly. The piston is operatively connected with the movable clamp and the spool via a wire for effecting substantially instantaneous clamping of the seat belt.Type: GrantFiled: February 19, 1993Date of Patent: July 5, 1994Assignee: Nissan Motor Co., Ltd.Inventor: Toshimi Yamanoi

Patent number: 4932603Abstract: A safety belt arrangement employs a pretensioning mechanism or device which has a pulley assembly which includes a plurality of pulley segments separated from each other. The segments are normally placed apart from a gear corotatable with a spool shaft. On the other hand, the segments are driven in response to collision shock toward the gear of the spool shaft for transmitting a retracting force generated by a gas generator to a belt spool for pretensioning the belt.Type: GrantFiled: December 22, 1988Date of Patent: June 12, 1990Assignees: Nissan Motor Company, Limited, Fuji-Autolib Company, LimitedInventors: Toshimi Yamanoi, Shoichi Nojima

Patent number: 4676556Abstract: Herein disclosed is an improved belt anchoring device which is incorporated with a slidable seat. The device uses a monolithic metal bracket for connecting a slide rail of the seat to a pin holder which is slidable on a toothed anchor stay fixed to the vehicle floor together with the seat. Upon application of abnormal impact load thereto through the seat belt, the bracket is forced to bend to permit locking engagement between the pin holder and the anchor stay thereby assuredly and safely dispersing the impact load to the vehicle body through the belt anchoring device.Type: GrantFiled: October 2, 1985Date of Patent: June 30, 1987Assignees: Nissan Motor Co., Ltd., NSK-Warner K.K.Inventors: Toshimi Yamanoi, Osamu Tokugawa
