  • Patent number: 5839782
Abstract: A seat device has a cushion frame mounted on a floor; a support member for supporting a seat pad; and a torsion bar including a torque bar section and an arm section, for elastically supporting the support member on cushion frame. An arm supporting bracket of substantially cylindrical shape is provided on the support member. A collar rotatably fitted to at least arm supporting bracket has a circumferential flange in a cylindrical shape with a bottom, and is disposed to be facing to an end surface of the arm supporting bracket on the opening side thereof. A tip portion of the arm section is fittedly supported in the opening of the collar. The arm supporting bracket is attached to the support member through a movement absorbing mechanism which allows relative movement with respect to the support member.

  • Patent number: 5692727
Abstract: A supporting member in a conventional seat device is supported only by torsion bar arm portions positioned at right and left sides of the device. Accordingly, when a large biased load acts on the device, a sufficient roll rigidity is not obtained and both arm portions at the right and left sides rotate simultaneously. Interference with the supporting panel, cushion frame or the like may also occur. Accordingly, a seat pad supporting member supported by a cushion frame provided on a floor is elastically supported on at least one of the front and rear portions thereof to a torsion frame by a torsion bar. The torsion bar is latched, at the torsion bar torque bar portion side, to the cushion frame side. The torsion arm portion side, moreover, is latched to the right and left sides. Finally, the torsion bar arm portion, on both sides, is connected to a connecting member.

  • Patent number: 5358305
Abstract: A seat suspension is provided that has a damper unit which is connected between the seat and the chassis on which the seat is mounted. The damper can be switched between soft and hard settings. The damper switching is controlled based on the relative position of the seat and one of the relative or absolute velocity of the seat. When the seat and the chassis are moving in the same direction the damper is set to soft, (producing a low damping effect), while when the seat and chassis are moving in opposite directions the damper is switched to hard (producing a high damping effect).

  • Patent number: 5035465
Abstract: An infant safety seat is provided on the rear side of an automobile seat back which is pivotable about a base hinge mechanism, between a position in which it leans to the rear so as to accommodate an adult passenger on the regular seat cushion, and a positon in which it leans forward so as to allow a removable infant safety seat cushion to be attached to the seat back. A seat back stopper is formed on the front edge of the removable infant safety seat. The seat back stopper projects between the bottom of the seat back frame and the relatively stationary seat cushion frame. With this arrangement if forces acting on the seat back in the rearward direction cause the dog clutch of a reclining mechanism of the seat back to fail, the seat back is prevented from rotating backwards and crushing the infant by means of the seat back stopper. Thus, it becomes unnecessary to provide a specially reinforced reclining mechanism on seats on which a rear mounted infant seat are to be mounted.

  • Patent number: 4986603
Abstract: The present invention discloses an improved rigid structure of a cushion frame provided with a vehicle seat for a child, wherein the seat for a child is mounted at the rear side of a seat back. Further, a seat belt anchor of the seat is firmly fixed to the cushion frame. To a back frame member of a cushion frame to which a seat belt anchor for a child is fixed, a horizontal portion of a reinforcing member having a large section modulus in the longitudinal direction is firmly fixed. Further a vertical portion of the reinforcing member having a large section modulus in the vertical direction is firmly fixed to the right and left frame members of the cushion frame so as to reinforce the back frame member and the right and left frame members of the cushion frame.

  • Patent number: 4913482
Abstract: A seat suspension includes a device which is responsive to a sensor which detects the condition of the road surface being traversed by the vehicle in a manner to produce relatively hard suspension characteristics when the vehicle is running on a rough road and softer characteristics when traversing a road having a smooth surface. The suspension of the vehicle if equipped with variable hardness type shock absorbers can be controlled in parallel with the seat suspension to improve the ride. Additional sensors which sense parameters such as acceleration, braking, steering angle, vehicle speed etc., can be used to control the setting of the seat suspension in addition to the basic road condition control.
