    Abstract: Controls for automatic transmissions of the four-forward-speed type having two shift valves equipped with solenoid valves in a hydraulic system, and a manual valve for changing over the fluid passages or lines in the reverse and forward speed regions. The automatically controlled shift positions in the first to fourth speed ranges in the forward speed region and the shift positions to be assumed by restricting the shift range by manual operation are attained by means of the two solenoid valves in response to signals from an electric control system.
