  • Patent number: 4911117
Abstract: An arrangement for supporting a crankshaft in a multicylinder engien comprises a plurality of bulkheads provided in a cylinder block of the engine to be arranged at predetermined intervals along an axis of the crankshaft disposed in the cylinder block, a plurality of bearing caps each coupled with a lower end of one of the bulkheads by a cap bolt screwed into the bulkhead through a part of the bearing cap relatively close to the bulkhead so as to constitute a bearing portion for supporting the crankshaft in conjunction with the bulkhead, a beam structure extending along the axis of the crankshaft to interconnect therethrough adjacent two of the bearing caps, and a reinforcing structure coupled with the beam structure with a plurality of clamped spots generally arranged in the direction along which the crankshaft extends and also coupled with each of side skirt portions of the cylinder block with a plurality of clamped spots generally arranged in the direction along which the crankshaft extends.

  • Patent number: 4819588
Abstract: A plurality of intake ports having each an opening on one side surface of an engine body are connected to a surge tank disposed over the engine body through each of plural separate intake tubes juxtaposed in the direction of the cylinder arrangement. Each of separate intake tubes is designed so as to extend in the direction apart from one side surface of the surge tank and then be curved in the direction turning toward one side surface of the engine body. The separate intake tubes are arranged such that the separate intake tube located on the end side has an opening on the surge tank at a position higher than that proximate thereto.

  • Patent number: 4754642
Abstract: A speed detection apparatus intended to be placed in a borehole containing high temperature flowing fluid consists of an elongated casing with a rotary shaft having a helical rotary blade in the casing. Secured to the rotary shaft is a sensor control rotor with a plurality of metal targets on the periphery. Opposed to these targets is an eddy currents displacement transducer with electric circuitry including a coil. The displacement of the targets due to fluid flow causes impedance change in the coil which produces an electrical signal proportional to the rate of flow.

  • Patent number: 4741293
Abstract: In an engine cooling structure in which a water pump for causing a cooling water or coolant to flow in a watercool engine is located at or near one end portion of a cylinder block in the direction of the cylinder alignment, coolant passages include a main coolant passage disposed in a cylinder head and the cylinder block, a radiator circulating passage leading the cooling water from the water pump through an engine body to a radiator core, a by-pass passage by-passing the radiator core, and a heater circulating passage leading the cooling water from the engine body to an air-conditioning heater. The radiator circulating passage and the by-pass passage are arranged so as to switch by a thermostat valve. The by-pass passage and/or the heater circulating passage are or is constructed so as to have a coolant return passage disposed in the cylinder block extending in the direction of the cylinder alignment.

  • Patent number: 4725783
Abstract: A cable connection head is disclosed, in which a well logging cable is inserted through an upper head housing of a head housing consisting of a lower head housing coupled to an upper portion of a measuring instrument housing and the upper head housing coupled to an upper portion of the lower head housing, armoring wires of the well logging cable secured to the upper head housing, and core wires of the well logging cable are connected to a connector which is fittedly secured to the lower head housing. A metal covered cable of the well logging cable is constructed by accommodating a plurality of core wires and filling with an electric insulating material in a metal tube. The lower head housing and metal covered cable are reliably sealed to each other such as to be able to withstand high temperature by inserting the metal tube of the metal covered cable through the lower head housing and securing the metal tube by means of welding around the entire outer periphery to the top of the lower head housing.
