  • Patent number: 6212766
Abstract: A method of automatically inserting terminals with wires into desired terminal accommodating cavities in a connector housing after putting neighboring wires aside, and a wire sweeping arm and a driving device for the sweeping arm. The method includes the steps of: grasping the terminal with wire by terminal supporting hands and wire supporting hands; moving the wire sweeping arm in the direction that the wire sweeping arm sweep wires which are already accommodated in neighboring terminal accommodating cavities, the wire sweeping arm being disposed between the terminal accommodating cavities and the terminal supporting hands so as to move back and forth; moving the wire supporting hands and the terminal supporting hands toward the connector housing to insert the terminal with wire into the terminal accommodating cavity.

  • Patent number: 5703279
Abstract: A waterproof connector is checked for waterproofness, which waterproof connector has a terminal-accommodating chamber into which a terminal is inserted and which is sealed with a waterproofing rubber stopper through which an insulated wire attached to the terminal passes. A connector-holding block of a waterproofness-checking jig engages in a watertight manner with the connector-fitting side of the waterproof connector, followed by depressurizing the waterproof connector with an ejector and comparing the pressure inside the waterproof connector with a reference pressure to determine the presence or non-presence of a leakage. Owing to the depressurization of the waterproof connector, the terminal, if inserted incomplete, is moved into a fully-inserted position in the connector housing in one piece with the waterproofing rubber stopper. A waterproof connector can be easily and reliably checked for waterproofness without making errors, while remedying incomplete insertion of a terminal.

  • Patent number: 5604440
Abstract: A connector formed with a first portion on the connector positioned differently according to a kind of the connector. The first portion is, for example, the forward end of a terminal or a cutout formed on the housing of the connector. At least one multicontact switch pin is fixedly arranged on a carriage base in a direction such that the probe pin of the multicontact pin extends towards the first portion. The switch pin has at least two contacts and a probe pin projecting outwardly of the multicontact switch pin. Each of the contacts is connected to a corresponding test circuit. The probe pin is adapted to move into and/or out of contact with the contacts when the probe pin is pushed inwardly into the multicontact switch pin. The carriage base is moved by a predetermined distance towards the connector to allow the probe pin to engage the first portion so that the probe pin moves into and/or out of contact with said contacts.

  • Patent number: 5477606
Abstract: The assembly guiding apparatus for wiring harness subassemblies facilitates assembly work by indicating the connector to be used and displaying the terminal insertion position in the connector. The apparatus comprises: a plurality of connector boxes 3 containing connectors, each of which is provided with an indicator lamp 4 and a light interception sensor 5 facing a connector pick-up opening 14; an incrementing sensor 8 installed on the pick-up side of terminated wires 7 that are arranged in line on a wire supporting device 6; an indicator 10 that indicates with light a contour of the connector 2 and positions of terminal accommodating chambers in the connector 2; and a controller 13 incorporating a CPU and a memory, both connected to the indicator lamp, the light interception sensor, the incrementing sensor and the indicator.

  • Patent number: 4476629
Abstract: A method and apparatus for automatically producing a wire harness. A plurality of wiring blocks are arranged on a workbench. Each wiring block has a wire clamping section, a wire cutting section, and a terminal press attaching section. The wire cutting section and the terminal press attaching section can be separated from the wire clamping section. This structure makes it possible to automate a series of operations including wire cutting, wire peeling, and terminal attaching operations.
