Abstract: A communication device includes multiple card slots to which processing cards are attachable, multiple power supply systems that are capable of supplying a current from a power source to each of the multiple card slots, and a control unit that connects the card slot to which the processing card is attached among the multiple card slots to any of the multiple power supply systems, the number of power supply systems that is connected to the card slot to which the processing card is attached corresponding to a total consumption current of the processing card that is attached to the card slot.

Abstract: A power assigning method for a wireless base station apparatus that includes a main system for performing normal packet communications between the wireless base station apparatus and mobile stations and includes a subsystem for performing high speed packet communications from the wireless base station apparatus to the mobile stations is disclosed. In the method, the wireless base station apparatus assigns, as transmission power, a part of power obtained by subtracting power being used by the main system from a maximum transmission power of the wireless base station apparatus to initial transmission for the high speed packet communications for a mobile station, and increases transmission power for retransmission by a predetermined amount. When the transmission power cannot be increased by the predetermined amount, transmission power for the retransmission is increased by decreasing power used for the main system.
