  • Patent number: 6796456
Abstract: A method and apparatus of registering two sheets, such as wood veneer sheets, are disclosed. According to the method, firstly two sheets are assembled together by laying one sheet on top of the other sheet in an overlapped relation to each other wherein one end of the upper sheet is positioned outward of one end of the lower sheet. Then, the two sheets thus assembled are moved by a conveyer in the above overlapped relation in such an orientation that the above ends are moved as the leading ends. For registration of the sheets, there is provided a stop device having a stop surface extending perpendicularly to the direction in which the sheets are moved by the conveyer. On the way of movement of the sheets, firstly the upper sheet is stopped by the stop surface with the leading end thereof aligned against the stop surface, and subsequently the lower sheet is stopped by the stop surface with the leading end thereof aligned against the same stop surface.

  • Patent number: 6712355
Abstract: A method for locating and conveying a veneer sheet includes: causing a downstream end of a veneer sheet conveyed by a travelling conveying member to abut against a blocking member to correct the attitude of the veneer sheet in such a state that a downstream end of the veneer sheet is perpendicular to the conveying direction of the veneer sheet; and after moving the conveying member in a direction perpendicular to the conveying direction until one side end of the veneer sheet perpendicular to the conveying direction reaches a predetermined position and stopping the conveying member, moving the blocking member to a position where the blocking member does not abut against the veneer sheet. Accordingly, attitude correction of a veneer sheet and locating thereof in the direction perpendicular to the conveying direction can be performed effectively.

  • Patent number: 5123807
Abstract: A system for stacking veneer sheets conveyed from two different directions includes a lower mechanism for carrying a first veneer sheet to a first position above a stack support and an upper mechanism for carrying a second sheet to a second position above the first position. The first veneer sheet carried to the first position may not be dropped immediately, but waits for the second veneer sheet to be dropped thereon from the second position, and then the first and second veneer sheets may be dropped as one body on the stack support. The lower carry mechanism includes a carry roller and a sheet carrier which may be moved substantially synchronously. However, the sheet carrier is moved through a stopper away from the carry roller when the veneer sheets are to be freed from the support thereof by the sheet carrier.

  • Patent number: 4897018
Abstract: An apparatus for stacking veneer sheets includes a table on which to stack veneer sheets, a pair of first and second conveyors disposed on opposite sides of the table, and a veneer carrier located above the table and movable between the conveyors. The veneer carrier comprises a right veneer holding mechanism and a left veneer holding mechanism. Each holding mechanism has a veneer holder. The right veneer holder grasps a front end portion of a veneer sheet conveyed by the first conveyor, and the veneer carrier is moved to the left to carry the sheet to a drop position from which to drop the sheet. While the sheet is thus carried, it is supported at its opposed side portions by a pair of spaced apart support bars located along the direction in which the sheet is carried. Thus, the sheet is allowed to curve downwardly at its substantial rear half while it is carried.
