  • Patent number: 5559296
Abstract: A snare drum is disclosed having a drum body, upper and lower drum heads fitted over openings formed at upper and lower ends of the drum body, and upper and lower rims, each of which engages peripheral edges of the upper and lower drum heads. Multiple lugs are arranged around the outer surface of the drum body and multiple nuts connect the upper and lower rims with the multiple lugs so as to pull the upper and lower rims toward one another. Multiple snare strainers on the drum body have a movable section which through the operation of a performer, can be made to operate so as to adjust one of multiple snares attached thereto so as to be moved between a position in contact with a surface of a drum head and a position out of contact with the drum head.

  • Patent number: 5329838
Abstract: A drum comprises a shell defining a hollow space extending along a predetermined direction, a head stretched over the hollow space, and a supporting mechanism provided between the shell and a drum stand. The drum stand is affixed to the shell at a predetermined position. Vibrations take place in the shell upon beating the head. The predetermined position is matched with an area where the vibrations minimize the amplitude thereof so that the beats are less susceptible to influence from the supporting mechanism.

  • Patent number: 5056403
Abstract: According to this invention, an electronic drum has a head portion. An annular frame is arranged to generally surround the head portion. A vibration plate is arranged to be in tight contact with a lower surface of the head portion, and vibrates in response to the performer's strike of the head portion. A pickup device is mounted on the vibration plate so as to detect the vibration of the vibration plate. A vibration preventing portion is inserted between the head portion and the annular frame so as to prevent the vibration from being transmitted to the annular frame. The head portion and the vibration preventing portion are integrally formed of a flexible material. A sound device is connected to the pickup device so as to produce a drum sound in response to the detected vibration.

  • Patent number: 4841830
Abstract: A foldable electronic bass drum includes a base to be placed on a floor surface with a coupling device provided at a portion of the base for coupling a foot pedal with a beater. On a portion of the base remote from the coupling device, an arm mounting a pad to be struck by the beater at one end of the arm and an arm supporting device for pivotally supporting the other end of the arm are provided. The other end of the arm is fixed to the base by a fixing device so that the beater of the foot pedal can strike the pad. A vibration of the pad is picked up by a pick up device for converting a vibration of the pad into an electrical signal. When the foldable electronic bass drum is not used, the arm is released from the fixing device so that the arm is moved forward the foot pedal and laid on the base thereby establishing conveyance.

  • Patent number: 4800795
Abstract: An angle adjusting apparatus for a percussion instrument has a ball member and a seat in slidable contact with the ball member. One of the ball member and the seat is mounted on a musical instrument support member of a musical instrument stand. The other of the ball member and the seat is mounted integrally with a musical instrument housing. Such construction of the angle adjusting apparatus makes a player's angle adjusting work of the percussion instrument easier, so that the player has no need to adjust it in an unnatural posture.

  • Patent number: 4732070
Abstract: An electronic bass drum is mainly constructed by two front legs which stand substantially vertically and are parallel to each other, two rear legs whose one ends are connected to the front legs and whose other ends extend obliquely downward, a pad whose back surface is fixed to the front legs and whose front surface is striken by a player and a pickup which is attached to the back surface. The pickup detects a vibration of the pad caused by the player's strike and outputs a detection signal representing electrically the vibration. Drum sound is realized by driving a sound source such as a PCM sound source, a FM sound source in response to the detection signal.
