  • Publication number: 20080225100
Abstract: A recording apparatus includes a support drum which rotates while supporting a recording medium on a support surface thereof. A guide shaft of the recording apparatus is spaced apart from the support surface by a predetermined distance and extends in parallel to a direction perpendicular to a rotation direction of the support drum. A carriage which is guided by the guide shaft is reciprocally moved along the support surface. A recording head mounted on the carriage ejects an ultraviolet curing ink toward the recording medium. An ultraviolet ray irradiation unit irradiates ultraviolet rays to the ultraviolet curing inks which are ejected from the recording head. In operation, the carriage is moved along the guide shaft so as to form an image formed by the ultraviolet curing ink and a coat ink over the overall surface of the recording medium supported by the support drum.

  • Publication number: 20080225094
Abstract: An ink jet recording apparatus includes a slide member slidably supported at a cartridge holder and a lock claw member rotatably supported at the cartridge holder. The slide member slides along an insertion direction of an ink cartridge with respect to the cartridge holder between a first slide position and a second slide position. When the slide member is located at the second slide position, the lock claw member is located at a first rotation position. At this time, the ink cartridge is incapable of being removed from the cartridge holder. When the slide member moves to the first slide position from the second slide position, the lock claw member is located at the second rotation position. At this time, the ink cartridge is removable from the cartridge holder.

  • Patent number: 7399003
Abstract: A plurality of cylindrical port defining portions project from a passage defining member defining a plurality of passages. A supply line defining body defining a plurality of supply lines is formed of an elastic member. The supply line defining body includes a plurality of openings each communicating with a corresponding one of the liquid supply lines. Each of the port defining portions extends perpendicularly to the direction in which each of the passages extends. Each of the openings extends perpendicular to the direction in which each of the liquid supply lines extends. A securing member fastens the port defining portions with respect to the corresponding openings collectively, by applying fastening force to the passage defining member and the supply line defining body in the axial direction of each port defining portion.

  • Publication number: 20080122902
Abstract: A liquid ejection apparatus having a liquid ejection head and a switching device is provided. The switching device includes a first supply passage through which first liquid flows, a second supply passage through which second liquid different from the first liquid flows, a head supply passage, a first ON-OFF valve that selectively opens and closes the first supply passage, a second ON-OFF valve that selectively opens and closes the second supply passage, a rotary cam, and an actuator. The head supply passage extends from a joining point between a downstream end of the first supply passage and a downstream end of the second supply passage to the liquid ejection head. The actuator is driven by the cam in such a manner that the first ON-OFF valve and the second ON-OFF valve are selectively opened and closed. The actuator operates the first and second ON-OFF valves in such a manner that one of the first and second ON-OFF valves becomes open and the other becomes closed.

  • Publication number: 20080002005
Abstract: Ink type information is read by a read and write system (62) from a semiconductor storage system mounted on ink cartridges (9a to 9d) attached to a cartridge holder (8). A decision control system (61) decides whether or not ink type information has already been stored in ink type storage system (63), and stores the ink type information thus read when the ink type information is not stored. In the case in which the ink cartridge is exchanged, the ink type information is similarly read and it is decided whether or not the same ink type information is identical to the ink type information stored in the ink type storage system (63). If they are not identical to each other, the operation of the recording apparatus is inhibited and a display system (68) is caused to display an error message thereon.

  • Publication number: 20070279462
Abstract: There is provided an ink cartridge which is formed from an ink-filled ink pack and a hermetic outer shell case for housing the ink pack and which supplies ink to a recording head by means of application of air pressure to a space between the outer shell case and the ink pack. The outer shell case is formed by coupling an upper case and a lower case together. The ink-filled ink pack is housed in the lower case, and the upper case is laid on the lower case from above. The upper and lower cases are hermetically sealed by vibratory welding or heat welding, thus constituting the ink cartridge.

  • Patent number: 7278718
Abstract: A liquid injection apparatus having a liquid reservoir for containing liquid, a recording head for injecting the liquid, and a liquid supply passage for supplying the liquid in the liquid reservoir to the recording head is disclosed. A valve unit is located on the liquid supply passage. The valve unit has pressure chamber for temporarily retaining the liquid. As the recording head injects the liquid, the liquid in the pressure chamber decreases. In response to a negative pressure generated by the decrease of the liquid in the pressure chamber, a valve mechanism of the valve unit selectively establishes a supply state where the liquid is supplied from the liquid supply passage to the pressure chamber and a non-supply state where the liquid is not supplied from the liquid supply passage to the pressure chamber. An flow rate adjuster forcibly changes a flow rate of the liquid that flows through the liquid supply passage.
