  • Patent number: 4942884
Abstract: An improved portable battery powered therapy applicator which applies a high frequency electromagnetic field to a living tissue for promoting hematogenous effects. The applicator is in use to be attached to the skin of a patient and has a casing encapsulating therein, in addition to the battery, an antenna for directing the high electromagnetic field and electronic components forming an oscillator which energizes the antenna. These parts are mounted on a substrate which is made of a rigid material sufficient to resist deflection or deformation in order to protect the antenna on the substrate from deforming or receiving considerable stress at the time of detaching the applicator from the skin. Thus, the antenna can be kept free from breaking even through repeated operations of detaching the applicator, greatly enhancing reliability and prolong an operation life of the applicator.

  • Patent number: 4626666
Abstract: A self-regulating electric heater includes a plurality of ceramic PTC resistors having flat contact surfaces on their opposite sides disposed between a pair of flat electrode plates with the contact surfaces in electrical and thermal contact with the plates. A support frame of electrically insulative material is formed with receiving portions respectively for the PTC resistors and the electrode plates to positions and hold the resistors and plates in assembled relationship for insertion as a single assembly into a closed-end cavity in a metallic radiator with the electrode plates in good heat transfer contact with the inner wall surface of the cavity. The frame is provided with spring seats receiving springs which coact with the radiator to bias the support frame into the cavity to insure stable intimate thermal contact between the electrode plates and inner cavity wall. The PTC resistors may be provided with chamfered edges along the peripheries of the flat contact surfaces thereof.

  • Patent number: 4576149
Abstract: A massager for massaging user's body with a pair of massaging elements pressed thereto, which comprises a main shaft carrying the massaging elements operatively with the shaft, a driving shaft shiftable vertically with respect to the axis with rotatable means carried at both ends for driving the main shaft and massaging elements, and means for controlling movements of the massaging elements in both directions of the main shaft axis and perpendicular thereto and rendering the movements to be startable always from a predetermined position, that is, from the inner side to the outer side of the user's shoulders or from his shoulder side on the back towards his waist, whereby the massaging elements can start from an optimum position for an intended massaging effect, ensuring an excellent convenience of use and a highly effective massaging operation.

  • Patent number: 4417587
Abstract: Apparatus is described for measuring both the systolic and diastolic blood pressure of an individual. A pressurable cuff having an additional tightening band for advantageously positioning a cuff and microphone on an artery is described. The microphone is connected to first the second filters having respective passbands for analyzing the frequency content for recovered pulse signals. The apparatus provides for automatic pressurizing and depressurizing of the cuff whereby the artery is occluded and opened to permit passage of the blood flow. The pressure at the time of receipt of signals from the filters is measured as the systolic pressure. The diastolic blood pressure is measured with apparatus in accordance with the invention by monitoring signals from one of the filters.

  • Patent number: 4131121
Abstract: A method of setting durable curls in hairs in which a flow of simultaneously warmed and humidified air is applied to rolled hairs. A device for performing the method comprises a base body, a stand erected on the base body preferably in a manner foldable in the base body and a hood of substantially semi-spherical shape for defining an optimum hair setting atmosphere therein and coupled rotatably to upper end of the stay, air warming and humidifying mechanism secured outside the hood adjacent mounting position thereof to the stand for blowing warmed and humidified air inside the hood preferably from ceiling to downward open edge of the hood along inner wall thereof, and means for controlling the mechanism and disposed in the base body for easy access. In an optimum structure of the device, the base body is of a disk shape complementing the circular open end of the hood, so that when the stand is folded and the hood is rotated over the base body the hood will cover the base body compactly for storing.
