  • Publication number: 20050227543
Abstract: A plurality of contact members are held by an insulator in two rows. The contact members include first contacts and second contacts in each of the two rows. Each of the first and the second contacts has a contacting portion to be connected to a mating contact and a terminal portion to be connected to a connection object. The terminal portions of the first contacts are collectively arranged in a predetermined row. The second contacts in one and the other of the two rows are inverted in position from each other. The terminal portions of the second contacts in one and the other of the two rows are arranged on one and the other sides of the predetermined row, respectively.

  • Patent number: 6884089
Abstract: A surface mountable connector (100) comprises an insulator (10), a plurality of contacts (30) and a plurality of fixity members (40). The contacts (30) are held by the insulator (10). Similarly, the fixity members (40) are held by the insulator (10). The fixity member (40) has a specific shape similar to the contact (30) except for a contact portion of the contact (30) which is a part of the contact (30) brought into contact with a contact of a mating connector when the connector (100) is mated with the mating connector. The fixity member (40) can be easily manufactured by cutting off the contact portion from the contact (30).

  • Patent number: 6814605
Abstract: A connector (11) has a locking portion (13b) for locking a connected state in which the connector is connected to a mating connector (1). The locking portion is integral with a conductive shielding shell (13) covering an insulator housing (12) holding a conductive contact (14a). The housing has a guide portion (12a) for guiding the mating connector when it is connected. The locking portion is formed at a position corresponding to the guide portion.

  • Patent number: 6540561
Abstract: In a plug connector (1) for being connected to a receptacle connector (2) in a first direction, a plug contact (13) is held by a plug housing (11) and has a principal surface extending along the first direction. The plug contact is formed with a concave portion recessed from the principal surface in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction. A wall is remained between the principal surface and the concave portion. In the receptacle connector (2), a receptacle housing (21) holds a receptacle contact (23) for coming in contact with the plug contact in the second direction. The receptacle contact is formed with a projection (23d) which is positioned inside the concave portion when the plug connector is connected to the receptacle connector.

  • Patent number: 6398598
Abstract: In an electrical connector having at least one contact (2) held in at least one contact accommodating groove (3a) formed in an insulator (3), the contact (2) comprises a base portion (21) press-fitted in the contact accommodating groove (3a), a contact portion (22) projecting (2a) from the contact accommodating groove (3a) upward, and a U-shape spring portion (2b) connecting the base portion (21) and the contact portion (22). The contact accommodating groove (3a) comprises a relatively large width section (3a-1) adjacent to the end wall (3e) and a relatively small width section (3a-2) adjacent to the open end. Opposite side walls at the relatively small width section (3a-2) are formed with press-fit grooves (3d) adjacent to the bottom wall (3c). The base portion (21) of the contact (2) is formed with lateral projections (2c) laterally projecting from the opposite sides of the base portion (21), and the lateral projections (2c) are press-fit in the press-fit grooves (3d) respectively.

  • Patent number: 6066000
Abstract: Fixing a flat cable (7) to a cable connector member (3) of a two-piece electrical connector (1) is performed by a slider (10) inserted together with one end portion of the flat cable (7) into a connector housing (20). A metallic shall (13) fixedly supports the slider (10) therein and is slidably fitted on the connector housing (20) for providing the electro-magnetic shielding. Insertion and removal of the slider (10) for the connector housing (20) are performed by sliding operation of the metallic shell (13) on the connector housing (20).
