  • Patent number: 4786943
Abstract: A device for removing residual particles from a photoconductive member comprises a fur brush in contact with the photoconductive member, a metal roller in contact with the fur brush, and a scraper blade in contact with the metal roller. The fur brush is maintained at a first biasing voltage, e.g., +50V, while the metal roller is maintained at a second biasing voltage which is of the same polarity but greater in magnitude than the first biasing voltage, e.g., +150V. The fur brush attracts residual particles from the photoconductive member while the metal roller attracts residual particles from the fur brush. The scraper blade scrapes the residual particles from the metal roller, the particles falling into a conveying auger for recycling.

  • Patent number: 4775205
Abstract: A light beam scanning apparatus including a light source for emitting a light beam and a rotatable polygon mirror having at least one surface for reflecting the light beam to a second surface being scanned. A flat field lens is provided between the polygon mirror and the second surface and an optical system is provided close to the second surface. The optical system has a light converging effect only in the vertical direction perpendicular to the scanning direction, and the light beam forms a first beam waist between the flat field lens and the optical system, and a second beam waist substantially on the second surface.

  • Patent number: 4639072
Abstract: An optical beam scanning apparatus wherein a beam shaping device for forming a flat light beam which has a large width in the scanning direction and which is substantially parallel with the direction of the optical axis is disposed between a light source and rotary polygonal mirror, and a cylindrical lens bent to have both ends in the longitudinal direction thereof approaching to the scanned plane is disposed between a condensing lens for condensing the light beam reflected by the rotary polygonal mirror and a scanned plane in the vicinity of the latter. The rotary polygonal mirror and the scanned plane are arranged to have a conjugate relation with each other from geometrical optics. The light beam is converged so as to generate the beam waist near the scanned plane.

  • Patent number: 4268160
Abstract: An electrophotographic copying apparatus having a photosensitive medium for normal copying operations further includes an electric charge carrying medium for receiving and storing an electrostatic latent image in accordance with external electric signals, as from facsimile transmission. The charge carrying medium is moveable between a first position spaced from the photosensitive medium and a second position in image transferable relationship with the photosensitive medium. Latent image formation on the charge carrying medium is effected at the first position thereof so as to free the photosensitive member for concurrent normal electrophotographic copying operations.

  • Patent number: 4256822
Abstract: An electrophotography photosensitive plate having an interfacelayer between a substrate and a photosensitive layer. Said interfacelayer comprises the mono- or co-polymer of the unit components represented by the general formula: ##STR1## In said formula R is a hydrogen atom or a methyl group; A is ##STR2## wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 each are lower alkyl, phenyl or benzyl groups, and further R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 may be taken together to form a ring, or ##STR3## wherein B is a nonmetallic atom selected from the group consisting of carbon, nitrogen and sulfur atoms, necessary to form a 5-6 membered heterocycle nucleus with the --N.sup.+ .dbd.C--; X.sup.- is an anion; and Y is a substituted or unsubstituted alkylene group.
