  • Patent number: 8234636
Abstract: A modification to source code is applied in an automated manner to improve program performance while maintaining the meaning of an associated program. Source code is rewritten to improve the operation of the associated program. Prior to applying the source code optimization to the program, confirmation of approval by the programmer must be maintained. In one embodiment, the programmer is presented with numerical data pertaining to an improvement ratio associated with application of the source code optimization.

  • Patent number: 6255242
Abstract: A zirconium- and cerium-based mixed oxide having good thermal stability and oxidation-reduction performance, in particular, is provided. The mixed oxide which comprises zirconium and cerium is characterized in (1) that cubic phase purity of a zirconia- and ceria-based solid solution is not less than 95% by volume of the crystal phase thereof and (2) that the cubic phase purity is not less than 75% by volume even after two repetitions of the step of subjecting the mixed oxide to heat treatment at 1,000° C. and then cooling the same to room temperature. A method of producing the mixed oxide is also provided which comprises admixing basic zirconium sulfate with a cerium ion-containing solution and then adding a base to the resulting mixed solution to thereby causing formation of a precipitate.

  • Patent number: 6150299
Abstract: Mixed oxides excellent in thermal stability of specific surface area and in oxidation-reduction performance are provided on an industrial scale. Catalyst materials useful in exhaust gas purification are also provided. The invention is concerned with mixed oxides containing cerium, zirconium and sulfur, namely cerium- and zirconium-based mixed oxides having the composition: 50 to 79% by weight as cerium oxide, 20 to 49% by weight as zirconium oxide, and 1 to 5% by weight as sulfate (SO.sub.4). The invention also relates to a method of producing cerium- and zirconium-based mixed oxides which comprises mixing a cerous-alkali metal sulfate double salt with a zirconium ion-containing solution and then adding a base to the mixed solution to thereby cause formation of a precipitate. The invention further relates to catalyst materials for exhaust gas purification which comprise a mixed oxide containing cerium, zirconium and sulfur, namely a cerium- and zirconium-based mixed oxide containing sulfur in an amount of 0.

  • Patent number: 4799442
Abstract: A method of and an apparatus for feeding a cylindrical piece of fabric to a sewing portion of a sewing machine whereby a hem is set at the edge portion of the fabric as a twice-folded, three-layered band. The apparatus has parallel supports for the cylindrical fabric both secured to the sewing portion, and a plurality of pairs of clamp plates disposed to the left and right of the supports at forward and backward positions and movable to the left and right and back and forth. The cylindrical piece of fabric is supported around the supports and four pairs of clamp plates are moved in such a manner that the fabric portions are appropriately stretched and the fabric has a twice folded portion.

  • Patent number: 4580512
Abstract: A method and apparatus for feeding a tubular fabric to a sewing portion of a sewing machine so as to set a hem on the edge portion of the fabric formed as a twice-folded, three-layered band. The operation is performed so that a left rear clamp is moved to the right so as to contact a holder extending from the sewing portion on its left side; the tubular fabric is inserted around the holder from the free end thereof; a main left front clamp is moved to the right and a right front clamp is moved to the left so as to clamp intermediate portions of the peripheral surface of said fabric from the outside. Then the left rear clamp is moved to the left and a main right rear clamp is moved to the right so as to stretch right and left sides of the fabric closer to the sewing portion from the inside to the outside, so that the right and left sides of the fabric become wider than the clamped portions of the fabric.
