  • Patent number: 5472221
Abstract: A bicycle front fork is disclosed, in which paired front fork assemblies capable of being elongated and contracted are coupled together at their upper ends by a cross member each lower end provided with an axle support for supporting an axle, the axle supports each having a support surface perpendicular to the axis of the axle. Each front fork assembly has a cross member holder having a mounting surface, which is perpendicular to the support surface of each axle support. The cross member is mounted by holding its outer surface in contact with the mounting surfaces and inserting mounting bolts in a direction parallel to the axle.

  • Patent number: 5449188
Abstract: A front fork assembly having an axially movable partitioning wall member disposed in its lower portion such as to define the lower end of an oil chamber in it. In the front fork assembly, a gas chamber is formed over the oil chamber. An operating pin extends from the partitioning wall member and penetrates a slot in the front fork assembly. An adjusting ring is fitted for axial movement on the front fork assembly and coupled to the operating pin.

  • Patent number: 5328196
Abstract: A wheel suspension system for a bicycle is provided with a telescopically coupled sliding tube and a fork leg forming a suspension assembly with a shock absorber assembly. The fork leg is provided satisfactorily high rigidity for withstanding torsional torque which is potentially exerted through a brake lever during application of a brake. The fork leg with sufficient rigidity can be formed from a tubular material.

  • Patent number: 4493490
Abstract: A front fork including an outer cylinder 2 and a slidable inner cylinder 3 with working oil between them has a dust seal 5 and an oil seal 6 in sliding contact with the outer circumference of the inner cylinder. Between these seals there is a guide 7 which is also in sliding contact with the outer circumference of the inner cylinder and which is made of sponge or felt and is impregnated with grease or oil. The provision of this guide increases the lives of the other seals.
