  • Patent number: 4850875
Abstract: A filling and forming system for dental viscous plastic materials utilizing ultrasonic vibrations in which a dental plastic material possessing viscousness (such as light polymerizable type composite resins) is used in the mouth cavity. Generation of ultrasonic vibrations from the tip of a forming instrument and application thereof to a dental material are obtained without generating heat in the absence of poured water. The effect of the ultrasonic vibrations permits the prevention of the adhesion of the material to the instrument. Additionally, it decreases the consistency of the material, thus making the filling and forming of the material easy and enhancing the close adaptation of the material.

  • Patent number: 4832600
Abstract: An applicator for dental cement lining includes a shaft having its head divided into an available face in the spherical form and an unavailable opposite face in the flat form. The flat place of the unavailable face may subtend a given angle of 0.degree. to 30.degree. with respect to the axial direction of the shaft. The available and unavailable faces of the head may be joined to each other through cut-outs formed in both sides of the head. The portion of the shaft contiguous to the head may be turned by a given angle with the middle portion thereof, and is fixed in place at that angle.

  • Patent number: 4795346
Abstract: In the visual measurement system for reading the occulusal clearance between the pulpal cavity wall and the opposing tooth, a thermoplastic material for occulusal registration is cast in a pulpal cavity wall at the time of the primary preparation of a cavity or abutment, and is put into occulusal closure engagement with the opposing tooth to register the opposing tooth surface thereon, the material being capable of being softened and formed at a temperature slightly higher than the internal temperature of the oral cavity and being of slight transparency. A specially designed explorer for thickness mesurement is then inserted into the required regions on the prepared surface covered with the material, thereby to produce indentations which are of various sizes and shapes similar to those of the head of the explorer, and which has its width coincident with the indented depth, and the sizes of the indentations are visually observed to read the clearance between the pulpal cavity wall and the opposing tooth.
