Patent number: 9663088Abstract: An electric booster including a plunger movable by operation of a brake pedal, an electric motor controlled based on a relative displacement between the plunger and the linear motion member, which is detected by a relative displacement sensor, and a ball and screw mechanism. The linear motion member pushes a piston of a master cylinder through a reaction member, thereby generating a brake force. Part of a reaction force from the master cylinder is fed back to the brake pedal through the reaction member. When a reference position sensor detects that a relative position of the plunger to the linear motion member coincides with a predetermined reference position, a detection value of the relative displacement sensor is stored as a relative displacement reference value, and relative displacement between the plunger and the linear motion member is determined.Type: GrantFiled: September 21, 2011Date of Patent: May 30, 2017Assignee: HITACHI AUTOMOTIVE SYSTEMS, LTD.Inventors: Toshio Takayama, Masaru Sakuma

Patent number: 8961411Abstract: The object is to seek a position for an insertion opening through which a treatment tool inserted inside a body cavity may reach an affected area while avoiding an obstacle. A first light emitting portion placed in an insertion portion applies light to an affected area inside a body cavity. A second light emitting portion placed in the insertion portion applies light to an inner wall of the body cavity toward the opposite side of the first light emitting portion. At this time, a light pathway on which the light from the first light emitting portion and the second light emitting portion will not strike the obstacle (e.g., an organ outside than the affected area, etc.) inside the body cavity is searched for. By making, in the position that the light from the second light emitting portion strikes, an insertion opening for inserting a treatment tool, the treatment tool can reach the affected area without interfering with the obstacle.Type: GrantFiled: March 26, 2010Date of Patent: February 24, 2015Assignees: National University Corporation Tokyo Medical and Dental University, Tokyo Institute of TechnologyInventors: Naofumi Tanaka, Kazuyuki Kojima, Toru Omata, Toshio Takayama, Yukio Kosugi

Patent number: 7861522Abstract: The present invention relates to an electrically driven brake booster in which boost control is performed as follows; when an input piston is displaced forward by an input rod upon an operation of a brake pedal, an electric motor is operated according to the input, and a primary piston is displaced forward by a ball-screw mechanism, and then a primary and secondary pressure chamber in a master cylinder main body are pressurized. A first seal and a second seal are disposed at a seal portion between the primary piston and the input piston. A portion between the first seal and the second seal is in communication with an outside through a discharge passage. Brake fluid which leaks from the first seal is sealed off by the second seal, and is discharged to the outside through the discharge passage, whereby it becomes possible to prevent that the electric motor and the ball-screw mechanism otherwise might be corroded by the leaking brake fluid.Type: GrantFiled: May 28, 2008Date of Patent: January 4, 2011Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Takuya Obata, Toshio Takayama, Takayuki Ohno, Yukio Ohtani

Patent number: 7032982Abstract: A master cylinder apparatus for a BBW system is provided, which enables accurate detection of a piston stroke without substantial increase in the size of a master cylinder. A master cylinder apparatus includes a master cylinder adapted to be connected to wheel cylinders through fail-safe valves, a stroke simulator for ensuring a desired stroke of a brake pedal upon receiving a brake fluid introduced from a fluid pressure chamber in the master cylinder through a simulator passage, and an opening/closing device for opening and closing the simulator passage. A stroke sensor for detecting a stroke of a primary piston is formed by a rotation angle detector, a sensor arm having one end connected to a rotary shaft of the rotation angle detector and a sensor pin extending from the primary piston. Linear motion of the primary piston is converted to rotational motion through engagement between the sensor pin and the sensor arm and is transmitted to the rotation angle detector.Type: GrantFiled: August 25, 2004Date of Patent: April 25, 2006Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha Hitachi SeisakushoInventors: Takato Ogiwara, Toshio Takayama

Patent number: 7003954Abstract: A master cylinder apparatus for a BBW system is provided, which eliminates a risk of brake delay, even with the use of a plunger-type master cylinder, and which therefore is able to achieve a reduction in size of a master cylinder. The master cylinder apparatus comprises a tandem-type master cylinder connected to wheel cylinders through fail-safe valves and a stroke simulator for ensuring a desired stroke of a brake pedal upon receiving a brake fluid introduced from a fluid pressure chamber in the master cylinder. The master cylinder is arranged in the form of a plunger-type master cylinder in which cup seals are provided on an inner surface of a bore of the cylinder body. A spring force of a second return spring for a secondary piston is set to be larger than that of a first return spring for a primary piston. A retracted position of the secondary piston is limited by a stopper pin extending through an oblong hole formed in the secondary piston.Type: GrantFiled: August 25, 2004Date of Patent: February 28, 2006Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha Hitachi SeisakushoInventors: Takato Ogiwara, Toshio Takayama
