  • Patent number: 5391682
Abstract: A thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer containing a very small amount of small grains, and having a high molecular weight and a narrow molecular-weight distribution. Such high-quality thermoplastic polyurethane is excellent in melt moldability and allows to prevent yarn breakage in producing fibers by melt spinning, for example. Such polyurethane elastomer can be produced by melt-polymerizing a prepolymer and a low-molecular diol at a relatively high temperature in a short period of time. This invention also provides an apparatus for producing the polyurethane elastomer, and fibers formed of said elastomer.

  • Patent number: 5281379
Abstract: A process for manufacturing a thermoplastic resin composition by melt-kneading a thermoplastic resin and fine particles or an additive, includes: introducing gaseous and/or liquid fluid containing fine particles of at most 10 .mu.m particle diameter or an additive to an unmelted granular or molten thermoplastic resin moving bed; adhering or depositing the fine particles or additive onto said moving bed, while the fluid in the gaseous state is being discharged; and then successively melt-kneading a mixture of the granular resin with the fine particles or additive. This process can be combined with a subsequent shaping step continuously that follows. The process of the invention saves energy, raw materials and labor consumptions and yields shaped articles of high quality and uniformity.

  • Patent number: 5232769
Abstract: This invention relates to a microcapsule having a particle diameter of 2.about.300 .mu.m and comprising a substance acting to improve physiological conditions of human skin, for example, substances exhibiting such effects as skin whitening, aging preventive, humidity preservable, itch suppressive, pain-killing, or antiphlogistic ones, and/or aromatic agents contained within the filmy coating of synthetic high molecular substance. The microcapsule is not broken when making, processing, or laundering the textile structure, but is gradually broken when the textile structure is put on the human body, used for another purpose, or subjected to intentional application of friction or pressure thereto, and sustainedly releases acting substances contained therein.

  • Patent number: 5166336
Abstract: A process for producing a corn milling residue carboxymethyl ether salt comprises reacting a corn milling residue with alkali in the presence of an aqueous carboxymethylating agent solution to give a corn milling residue carboxymethyl ether salt with an average degree of substitution not less than 0.2. As the reaction medium, water alone is used in a proportion of at least 7 moles per mole of the corn milling residue. Carboxymethylation of the corn milling residue is accomplished evenly and smoothly.

  • Patent number: 4951509
Abstract: A fluid-pressure detector comprising a pillow-like body capable of expanding and shrinking depending on pressure of fluid flowing in the pillow-like body, a detecting means for detecting an amount of expansion or shrinkage of the pillow-like body, and a connecting means for detachably connecting a detecting portion of the detecting means to an outer surface of the pillow-like body. Fluid pressure can be detected continuously and accurately both in the case of positive pressure and in the case of negative pressure. The detecting means is detachable from the pillow-like body, so that only the pillow-like body can be discarded while leaving the expensive detecting means as it is.

  • Patent number: 4701305
Abstract: A device for sampling blood and measuring erythrocyte sedimentation rate. The device comprises a tube with one end closed, a blood sampling portion on an opened end of the tube and an erythrocyte sedimentation rate measuring portion extending from the blood sampling portion. A stopper is located on the open end of said tube, and may be pierced with a blood drawing needle. Finally a partition member is located within said tube and extends substantially over the entire length of said tube. Blood is directly sampled into the device and the device mixes the sampled blood with a solution of an anticoagulant with a high efficiency in the device. Accordingly, measurement of erythrocyte sedimentation rate can be performed quickly and easily.
