  • Patent number: 4975547
Abstract: The multi-position electrical switch includes a printed circuit (PC) board arranged in a casing and supporting an array of stationary contacts encircling a light emitting element fixed on the PC board. A resilient rubber sheet covers the PC board and supports an array of movable contacts arranged opposite the stationary contacts. A control knob having a central opening rests on the rubber sheet in the region of the movable contacts. The bottom of the knob is formed with a tubular projection communicating with the central opening of the knob and extending to the level of an opening in the rubber sheet around the light emitting element.

  • Patent number: 4693828
Abstract: This invention relates to a method of ion-exchange and/or adsorption, and to a method of producing pure water. More specifically, this invention relates to a method of ion-exchanging and/or adsorbing an unnecessary product or a useful product in a liquid to be treated. Concretely, this invention relates to a method of ion-exchange and/or adsorption and to a method of producing superpure water by first treating the liquid with an ion-exchange resin, and then treating the liquid with an ion-exchange fiber.

  • Patent number: 4660491
Abstract: A ship according to the present invention comprises an inner hull plating (1) and an outer hull plating (2) connected together solely by transverse bulkheads (4) and connecting longitudinal members (3) fixed to the bulkheads (4). Each bulkhead 4 comprises a rectangular double plate central portion and a rectangular ring form box (11) surrounding the central portion. The box (11) includes a flaring part (11a) internally provided with generally triangular ribs (10) and a peripheral part (11b) of a constant thickness receiving part of the connecting longitudinal members (3).

  • Patent number: 4563425
Abstract: A metal ion that inhibits enzyme deactivation is bonded to a carrier and inhibits enzyme deactivation when contacted with a substrate for the enzyme. A carrier-bound metal ion such as ions of iron is particularly suitable for inhibiting deactivation of glucose isomerase when isomerizing glucose to fructose. Glucose isomerase life is remarkably prolonged by contacting carrier-bound iron ions with a glucose substrate solution prior to isomerizing with glucose isomerase.

  • Patent number: 4548154
Abstract: A ship having at least its side portions and bottom portion comprised of a double hull construction consisting of an inner hull plating and an outer hull plating connected together solely, except for transverse bulkheads disposed in spaced apart relation in the lengthwise direction of the ship, by a plurality of connecting longitudinals fixed to the bulkheads, at least one of the connecting longitudinals having anti-buckling means extending in the lengthwise direction thereof and tripping means extending in the widthwise direction thereof. According to this arrangement, external forces exerted on the ship may be transmitted through the connecting longitudinals to the transverse bulkheads so that the inner and outer hull platings may be protected from buckling. The absence of transverses crossing the longitudinals considerably facilitates the automatization of welding operation.
