  • Patent number: 4334403
Abstract: An open end spinning machine includes a plurality of spinning units. Each spinning unit includes a first yarn breakage sensing device assuming a yarn sensing, operative position, in which it contacts the yarn, when the spinning unit is in a normal spinning operation and an inoperative position, in which it is not in contact with the yarn, when the spinning unit is in a transient condition either from or to the normal spinning operation, and a second yarn breakage sensing device assuming a yarn sensing position at least when the spinning unit is in the transient condition. Upon occurrence of yarn breakage when the spinning unit is in the transient condition, such breakage is detected by the second yarn breakage sensing device and the supply of fibers to the associated spinning unit is interrupted by the second yarn breakage sensing device.

  • Patent number: 4105165
Abstract: A yarn handling machine includes bobbins on which yarns are wound, forming cheeses. At the beginning of the yarn winding operation, transfer tail windings must be provided on the end of the bobbin. An arrangement for providing transfer tail windings includes a yarn guide movable between an operative position closely adjacent to the bobbin and an inoperative position spaced from the bobbin sufficient to prevent interference of the yarn guide with the formation of the cheese. In the operative position, the yarn guide serves for providing the transfer tail windings.

  • Patent number: 4062439
Abstract: An apparatus for transporting yarn packages wound on cylindrical tubes from a process where the yarn packages are produced by textile machines to a subsequent process without touching any yarn layer thereof. A conveyer belt is disposed along the lengthwise direction of the above-mentioned textile machine so as to receive the yarn packages from the textile machine and the yarn packages are received by respective receiving rods which are utilized for carrying the yarn packages to the subsequent process. An auxiliary device for regulating the lengthwise direction of the tube of each yarn package in a condition of alignment with the receiving rod is disposed between the conveyer belt and the position where the receiving rod is capable of receiving the yarn package.

  • Patent number: 3991950
Abstract: An improved method and apparatus for making yarn packages of cheese form by winding units of a textile machine, wherein a bobbin of a yarn package is rotatably supported by each cradle turnably supported by a pivot shaft secured to a bracket in such a condition that the contacting pressure between a yarn package and a friction roller for rotating the yarn package is gradually decreased in an exponential manner according to the increase in the size of the yarn package and the above-mentioned change of the contacting pressure is attained by utilizing means for compensating the contacting pressure which connects the cradle with the bracket.

  • Patent number: 3981551
Abstract: A yarn package transportation vehicle comprises a turnable table having a plurality of cylindrical containers arranged in circle thereon. Yarn packages produced by a spinning machinery are canistered in the containers. The vehicle is positioned adjacent to one end of the spinning machinery so that one of the canisters is set in a canistering position in which the canister receives the yarn packages therein. When one container is fully loaded with the yarn packages, adjacent container is readily brought into the canistering position by turning the table a predetermined angle.

  • Patent number: 3952492
Abstract: In a textile machine provided with displaceable means for carrying out an operation utilizing air pressure, a main duct is disposed along the length of the machine, and the main duct is provided with a longitudinal aperture covered with a flexible covering member which permits formation of a space by deforming the skirt portion of the covering member. A connecting pipe of the displaceable means is inserted into the main duct through the space and the connecting portion is sealed by a sealing member secured to the pipe during the displacement of the displaceable means.

  • Patent number: 3939634
Abstract: An empty bobbin supply device for use in a doffing machine which travels in front of spinning units and is adapted for doffing a cheese and donning an empty bobbin in place thereof. This empty bobbin supply device has a reserve box, a reserve conveyor and a horizontal transfer conveyor, which are all positioned substantially in a vertical direction. An empty bobbin comes downwardly by gravity from the reserve box and is received between transfer plates of the reserve conveyor. The bobbin is then transferred downwardly by the circulating reserve conveyor, and in the absence of a bobbin on the horizontal transfer conveyor, the bobbin is delivered therefrom, while when a bobbin is present on the transfer conveyor, the bobbin remains on the reserve conveyor. The terminal of the horizontal transfer conveyor serves as a stand-by position for an empty bobbin in the doffing portion.

  • Patent number: 3940076
Abstract: Apparatus for handling yarn ends during a donning operation on a textile machine wherein in each operation unit, a yarn package is formed on a bobbin rotatably held by a cradle and rotated by the friction roller of a take-up mechanism. Just before or after doffing a full yarn package from the take-up mechanism, a yarn passage is formed by a yarn which is continuously supplied from the operation unit at a position in front of a part of the peripheral surface of the friction roller which the yarn passes over during the normal take-up operation. A fresh bobbin urges the yarn of the yarn passage toward the friction roller and then the fresh bobbin held by the cradle is rested on the friction roller. The yarn connected to the full yarn package is severed during the operation.
