  • Patent number: 6585060
Abstract: A pneumatic rotating tool is disclosed wherein the amount of air discharged is adjusted with a finger of the hand which holds the tool, thereby making it possible to adjust the rotational speed of the air motor incorporated in the tool. Rotation of a cylindrical regulator relative to a cylindrical housing is limited to an angle through a predetermined range centered on an axis of the cylindrical housing. The regulator is formed with a cutout portion and a depression both for opening exhaust holes formed in the motor body. The regulator is further formed with thick-wall portions for closing the exhaust holes.

  • Patent number: 6209422
Abstract: A ratchet wrench is designed to prevent overshooting and unintended switching of drive direction. The ratchet wrench has a wing member 44, which is biased by a spring 58 through a bushing pin 56, wherein an elastic member 66 formed of an elastic material, such as rubber, is incorporated into an axial internal space of the spring 58. Thereby, it is possible to strengthen a pressing force in a direction of holding engagement between a pawl of the wing member 44 and an internal gear 30 of an oscillating member 26. Thereby, in the case where a force is exerted on the wing member 44, in a direction tending to release the engagement between the pawl 46 of the wing member 44 and the internal gear 30 of the oscillating member 26, the spring 58 and of the elastic member 66 exert a reaction force, and the elastic member 66 functions as a stopper to prevent overshooting.

  • Patent number: 6066033
Abstract: To provide a rotational speed adjusting device for a pneumatic rotational tool in which even if high air pressure is supplied, rotational frequency thereof does not exceed the maximum allowable rotational frequency so as to prevent occurrence of breakage of a processing tool. A speed adjusting shaft 30 is secured to one end of a rotor 26, and a speed adjusting member 32 capable of being displaced with respect to the speed adjusting shaft 30 is mounted externally of the speed adjusting shaft 30. The speed adjusting shaft 30 is provided with a ball 44 movable in a radial direction, and the speed adjusting member 32 is axially displaced with respect to the speed adjusting shaft 30 by a centrifugal force applied to the ball 44.

  • Patent number: 4919022
Abstract: The powered ratchet wrench 10 is constructed of several components. A throttle lever 20 controls the air flow to a rotary air motor 30. The rotary output of the motor is transmitted to the hammer assembly 40 of an impact clutch mechanism. A spring 50 biases an anvil shaft 60 into association with the hammer assembly 40. The anvil can be directly driven by the motor through the hammer assembly or can be driven intermittently by a series of rotational impacts from the hammer assembly. The rotation of the anvil shaft causes the reversible ratchet mechanism 70 to rotate in the desired direction, thus tightening or removing a threaded fastener. Only a small reaction force is transmitted by the tool to the operator once the fastener is tightened.
