Abstract: A carburetor outer vent control device for use in a fuel system of a motor vehicle of the type including an outer vent provided in a float chamber of the carburetor, a charcoal canister and a fuel vapor line coupling the outer vent with the charcoal canister. The carburetor outer vent control device includes a valve means provided in the fuel vapor line which is only open when an excessive amount of fuel vapor is present in the float chamber and an engine of the motor vehicle is not running.

Abstract: A vacuum control valve is actuated by a vacuum created in the intake passage of an internal combustion engine for directly controlling on-off of a vacuum circuit thereby energizing or deenergizing a throttle valve positioner diaphragm device which controls motion of the throttle valve so as not to be abruptly urged in a closing direction. A first vacuum bleed port is connected by a conduit to a diaphragm chamber in the throttle valve positioner diaphragm device through an orifice and is located downstream relative to the throttle valve during rotation of the engine at an idling speed. A rod is connected to the diaphragm in the throttle valve positioner diaphragm device to restrict swinging movement of the throttle valve in the closing direction. The vacuum control valve is disposed in a conduit branched from the conduit connecting the first vacuum bleed port to the orifice and has a port which can communicate with the atmosphere.

Abstract: In an automatic choke valve for an internal combustion engine the extent to which the choke valve is opened is controlled by a bimetal member located in a casing separate from the carburetor through which air is passed whose temperature is determined by the temperature of the engine. In addition, a heater unit is positioned in the casing for supplying heat to the bimetal member and the heater unit is controlled by switches operated by the engine temperature and by the atmospheric pressure around the engine.

Abstract: An improved automobile engine carburetor in which a portion of the fresh air flowing into a carburetor main housing is bypassed through an auxiliary housing encasing a coiled bimetallic strip for controlling the position of a choke valve, so that the interior of the auxiliary housing may be maintained below a temperature at or above which the bimetallic strip may be heated to an unduly high temperature resulting in an earlier malfunction or failure.
