  • Patent number: 7164461
Abstract: A segment electrode group 10 is passed through a lower side portion of a sealing resin 7 to be connected to a connection terminal group for segment electrode 8. A connection terminal group for common electrode 6 is juxtaposed to the connection terminal group for segment electrode 8 along the lower side portion of the sealing resin 7. The connection terminal group for common electrode 6 is connected to a wiring pattern 5 through the lower side portion of the sealing resin 7. The wiring pattern 5 passes through an area between a right side portion of the sealing resin 7 and a display area 3 to be connected to a conduction portion between substrates Q1. The conduction portion between substrates Q1 contains numerous conductive particles so as to electrically connect the wiring pattern 5 and a common electrode group 4 to each other. By this arrangement, downsizing of a liquid crystal display device can be accomplished.

  • Patent number: 6456347
Abstract: In a liquid crystal display device (10) according to the present invention, a retardation plate (12) and a polarizer plate (13) are stacked on one side of a liquid crystal panel (11). A second retardation plate (14) and a second polarizer plate (15) are stacked on the other side of the liquid crystal panel (11). The liquid crystal panel (11) has a pair of transparent substrates, i.e., a first transparent substrate (21) and a second transparent substrate (22), and a nematic liquid crystal layer (32) is interposed between the pair of transparent substrates. A semi-transmissive film (26) is provided on an inner surface of the second transparent substrate (22). The semi-transmissive film has both a light reflective property and a light transmissive property. When the liquid crystal display device (10) is operative in the reflective mode, light passing through the liquid crystal layer (32) is reflected on the semi-transmissive film (26).

  • Patent number: 6400437
Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a light semitransmitting type liquid crystal display device which avoids a decrease of contrast due to backscattering in a reflective type display mode. In a light semitransmitting type liquid crystal display device: a group of bumps is formed on a glass substrate and the group of bumps is coated with a light semitransmitting film and an orientation layer; a color filter, an overcoat layer, transparent electrodes and an orientation layer are formed on a glass substrate; the glass substrates are opposed to each other via liquid crystal; and a first retardation film, a second retardation film and a polarizer plate are sequentially formed outside the glass substrate.
